The historic property was absolutely Charming and all of the staff were very knowledgeable about the history. The dining room was full of pictures from the past, with a worksheet guiding you to each numbered picture and explaining its significance. It was also a nice area to walk around with a lot of history and unique little shops.

I tend to stay in this historic hotel when I visit Wellsboro. Its an old hotel so expect squeaky and uneven floors but its a great place to stay and central to everything that you would like to do in town. Embrace the history and enjoy a unique experience.

You feel like you’re stepping back in time when you enter this place. It has a lot of charm and the employees are friendly. The Lodge is just a couple buildings down the block with a pool, sauna and hot tub.

Never been to Wellsboro but found it to be a wonderful town - and this hotel is right in the middle of it. If you like Old School this is it; the hotel has a history. Rooms are small - and well-maintained - but old. It was built when people were shorter (we aren't tall - 5-8 and 5-2) but had to reach down for the sink. At first glance, the shower looked like it might not be all that great but pressure was excellent; one of the better hotel showers we've had and we travel quite a bit. Speaking of which, the front desk clerk - Dave - may be the friendliest most well-informed desk clerk ever. Gave us great information on the area and restaurant recommendations. It was only a one-night stay to see the Grand Canyon of PA but we plan to return!

Charming throwback with no downside even in a historic monument. Friendly staff, cozy room, full breakfast at the companion lodge. Perfect rest before a long bike ride through the nearby Pine Creek gorge.

Nice hotel

The hotel is located right on the main strip. Plenty of places to eat and shop. Sister hotel has a pool to use. The staff is very nice and room was clean.

We were a little worried at first, the place is smaller than it looks it pictures. The hallways are a bit narrow however when we got to our room it was roomy and neat. We soon fell in love with the charm of the hotel, the nostalgia. Our bathroom had a tile with a slot to discard used razor blades. All the doors and moldings are original and kept well. The staff was pleasant and attentive when needed. If you want a more modern feel 200 ft down the block is the Penn-wells Lodge which amenities can be used if desired from either place. The Mary Wells Restaurant was the best we found in town, it was fine dining which was impossible to find anywhere within 25 miles of town. It was fine dining also without the price tag, our meals were reasonable. The hotel also has music softly playing from a bygone era which adds to the feeling of going back in time.

Hotel is very quaint. Great fireplace in lobby, restaurant food was excellent. Special shout-out to Dave Cox at front desk. He is so friendly, helpful, busy and does it all!
