I have stayed at the Waterloo over many years whenever we have had a stopover in wellington. I have found it to be well placed in the city with both the train station and bus hub close by. Te papa is just a short walk away along the waterfront and if arriving by ferry the bluebridge ferry terminal is across the road, the interislander runs a shuttle bus to the train station . So as you can see the Waterloo is an ideal place to stay. All facilities are available with many choices of places to dine close by.

Staying in the Waterloo Hotel always with a sense of wonder how long this has accommodated peoples stay. Queen Elizabeth stayed here! You get as much or as little out of this stay as you like. Meeting people in the elevator, nice chat. Staff who are always willing to increase the comfort of the stay. There were a couple of earth quakes. I on the 5th floor, but the building gently swayed and all was well :)

The single room with ensuite I booked was clean and perfectly adequate for a short overnight stay. The building is very old so there is no soundproofing from the windows and the hotel can be quite noisy at times during the night. Overall, good value for money considering it's central location
