Overall good place to stay! Location was nice, close to many food/retail stores. With no traffic a 25 minute drive to NYC. The front desk staff was very helpful. The room had no foul smells and was overall very clean. However, the bathroom in our room was so incredibly small. Super tight squeeze if two people need to be in there at the same time. The bed was extremely loud when you got on or off of it. There were a lot of noises in the morning. (vacuuming and the loud beds in the other rooms)

I want to say that the staff at Essence was friendly and helpful. The property leaves much to be desired though. The bathroom sink had a 2x6 board as an apron from the vanity instead of matching the counter. The bathroom door was old and had holes. There was almost no water pressure in the shower and the grout was mildewed. Ironically the sign out front advertises renovated rooms. The location was the worst though. Coming off of US 46 you can’t see the hotel but you have to cross 3 lanes in less than 20 yards which is almost impossible during the day so you have to figure out how to get around this very busy interchange.
