The front desk staff were very helpful with dinner suggestions and other information we required. The Second floor outdoor deck was closed because it was Sunday. That was a little disappointing but we went to The Empress to their patio

Room was small, stuffy with no air conditioning. It was advertised as a "Deluxe Queen" and it was not deluxe and I don't think it was a queen size bed. Bathroom was small and shower could not be adjusted to a good temperature. Location was very good and walkable. Cost of the room indicated a better experience - not a good value. Not a repeat.

Obviously not a tourist hotel just a private members club that allowed nonmembers to stay. Dress code somewhat pretentious in this day and age when some of the best hotels in the world only require it for fine dining. No coffee or water in room, unheard of these days. The good points are, pristine bed linen , excellent food and the patio was worth a couple of visits.

The room was clean and the shower worked well. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bathroom and bedroom are very small and lack air conditioning, which requires one to sleep with the window open and a fan blowing. The seagulls start their raucous squawking at dawn, so unless one has highly effective ear plugs, be prepared to awaken early. Perhaps the most annoying feature is the hotel’s parking arrangement, The front desk will provide an electronic key to enter or exit the parking garage, which is located several blocks from the hotel. One must then return the key to the front desk within a reasonable amount of time (20 to 30 minutes). So every time one wants to use their car, they must follow this routine. The good news is that parking is only $20 a night.

The club is a delight respite in the centre of the city. Esper Anne was welcoming, professional, and went out of her way to answer all of my questions. The club is beautiful with plenty of common areas to relax and read. The food is delicious and I appreciated the freshly coffee in the morning.

Everything about the stay was great. Room was clean, front desk was very nice and helpful. Check in and check out process was very easy. The only downside (which I was aware of before checking in) are the limited front desk hours, they're not 24x7. A few times I arrived after hours and had to call security to be let in. It would be significantly more convenient for guests if the fob worked for both doors 24x7. But overally a very pleasant stay in a historic building.

Great location, Staff were courteous, room is a throwback to 1960 elegance. Comfortable and food is great! Good value for the cost. You have to be able to manhandle your luggage up full flight of outside stairs in the rain... and the strict rules can be a bit much!

Parking was not straightforward. We found more convenient self parking (in part because it was shoulder season and a Sunday when City parking is free. ) The 11pm lock out requires a cell phone to call and get let in-maybe a buzzer would be more convenient. We weren’t sure if breakfast was included, had to ask for a Wifi code because it’s not listed in the room. Great location. Poor street signage.

My husband & I appreciate old architecture, so we decided book 3 nights out of curiosity. The service was great, the room was comfortable. No coffee maker in the room is the only inconvenience. The gym is well equipped compared to other places we've stayed at. The Union Club is perfectly located for walking down town Victoria.
