“We were welcomed by the staff and shown to our room, which was spacious, clean, warm and quiet. The bed was large and comfortable with good quality pillows. The shower room was large, clean and modern. It was so reasonably priced, we expected a lot less!”

“Cannot fault the Halfway House Pub. Stayed here for 4 nights..Friendly welcome shown our room by Mike. All staff friendly and helpful. Room was excellent spotless and uensuite was great. Breakfast was very good. Ate here twice in the evening and food was excellent. Great evening spent listening to the Sea Shanty choir. Dog friendly.. No car park but public car park £5 for 24 hours. Will definitely be staying again. Thanks to all staff at the Halfway House.”

“We booked a deluxe en-suite double room with (according to the website) a four-poster bed. This room was no longer available and we were assigned a room which was dark and grubby. We were also informed that there would be no food available ("don't do food anymore"), despite breakfast and evening meals being offered on the website. The staff were very apologetic and stated that there was new ownership and they couldn't access/manage the website. We expressed our dissatisfaction and requested that...

“Our new favourite place, absolutely faultless. Food is exceptional, a significant step up from your normal pub grub. Our little pooch was also made to feel incredibly welcome and even served with her own little platter of treats. A beautifully clean and well presented restaurant experience that welcomes anyone whether it be special celebrations or a party of hikers that have just conquered Dartmoor. 100% we will be back and bringing friends and family.”

“The room was very comfortable with a nice shower, coffee machine and fresh milk. The staff were very friendly and helped with recommendations for local walks. Dinner at the pub was excellent. The location is great - in the centre of the village with country walks on your doorstep and even a heated lido nearby for a morning swim.”

“Where do you start. Car park is a Pay and Display between the hours 9am-6pm. No food available not even breakfast. Room was old and tiered. Bathroom stank and not clean, there was a floater in the loo, not nice to see when you walk in. Music from the bar went on until closing time so good luck trying to get any sleep until then. When you go to leave the next day you cant get out of the door you came in you have to use the fire escape, The only redeeming factor was the bar staff, she was pleasant...
