This is a grand old hotel that reflects the traditions of years ago, that has been meticulously maintained. More importantly it is clean, & the staff helpfull. In house restaurant that sends a hearty breakfast in an elegant setting.

Breakfast was included and is a good value. They will cook traditional Scottish breakfast that includes haggish or black pudding, or traditional US breakfast such as omelettes and eggs, etc.. The golf course is 5 min an away by car and the recommended restaurants such as Greens Restaurant, and Platform 1864, within walking distance. The bathroom was newly re-furbished but other parts of the hotel a bit rustic

The staff were very helpful in preparing an early packed breakfast to take as we left early. We had arranged a late check in, but arrived about 30 minutes earlier and it took more than ten minutes to try and find a member of staff to check us in! After that it was absolutely fine! There was tea in the room, very comfortable beds, and plenty of parking! We only stopped over night so I cannot comment on the wonders of the cooked breakfast or other facilities, but it served out purposes well!

An old property that’s past its best. The breakfasts were good, the housekeeping was good and the four poster bed was okay. Maintenance should be improved. The TV in the room could not get a picture from the portable indoor aerial provided but the WiFi was good so the phone became the entertainment. The electric heater in the bathroom was only affixed by the bottom clips and when switched on - no heat, which was the same as the main heater in the room. The property has plenty character, just needs some love. Okay for a night perhaps.
