Upon arriving at the Country Inn and Suites in Sidney, Nebraska, the property appeared as though it might have been closed. Had it not been for the two cars parked out front, we likely would have canceled our reservation to seek accommodations elsewhere. The exterior of the hotel would benefit from some maintenance, as it appears vacant from the road, particularly due to the adjacent empty building that likely formerly housed a restaurant. The hotel is situated directly across from a Love's Travel Stop and a large parking area for semi-trucks. Fortunately, the guest rooms are located behind the main office area, which keeps them well shielded from the noise of the trucks. Check-in was quick and easy. Randy was very helpful and friendly, When we first arrived at our room (118) we discovered the door was propped open by the security bar, which prevented it from closing and locking. This was concerning, as the room could have been accessed by anyone, though fortunately, it was empty. The bathtub, shower walls, and shower head are in need of thorough deep cleaning to remove excessive accumulated soap scum and lime scale. The toilet could have also been cleaned a bit better. There was no shower curtain in our bathroom. Breakfast was okay. Not much to choose from, but better than nothing.

This property needs to be overhauled completely. The carpet in our room was coming up. The bed linens were clean but the bed was not comfortable. The air conditioning was icy cold, which was a positive. It was obvious that the front desk needed more help. When we first arrived, we were sent to a room that was currently occupied by another guest. Then we were sent to a room that had not been made up from the previous guest. Finally, the third time around we arrived in a room that was adequate. We noticed a mouse hole on the stairs. The window air-conditioning units on the staircases did not work. Carpets were stained and dirty. Bathroom needed to be scrubbed.

When arriving to my room, the bathroom was dirty, not enough towels, container and body wash were not filled, the room was dirty and there were jo extra sheets for the couch, I had to ask for them. The pool area seemed under construction and water not clean. The hot tub was not working. I would not come back to this place anymore.

The rooms were clean and staff was helpful but their computer system charged my cc 6 times and after 3 days still has a hold on my money that they promised would drop off the next day. The front desk staff tried to help but couldn't get direction from management!
