The staff is very friendly and helpful. All or most are also at least bilingual in Spanish and English, if that is important to you. The location is within the city of San Jose with lots of restaurants, shopping and a large sports complex within walking distance.

I experienced some minor issue with the charges, as the hotel deducted the cost of one night before checking in. At arrival, I assumed that I would only have to pay the difference, yet they demanded that I pay the full price, even when I showed them the deduction from my bank statement. However, the manager quickly reversed the charges with no problems. The front desk agent Xavier was very welcoming and friendly. For the second arm of our vacation, we visited San Jose. Originally, I booked the hotel for 3 nights, but only stayed one night. The rooms are clean, but outdated, small, and misleading (website pictures look better than the actual room). The hotel needs renovation. The hotel is not suited for vacation and the manager was accommodating and assisted with canceling the other two nights. The breakfast was average. The kitchen staff were all very friendly.

I always feel welcome and at home when I stay at Hotel Palma Real. Everyone at the hotel is always so nice and attentive. The food is great, and rooms are always clean. Plus, there are nearby buses to go anywhere.

Clean rooms, great service, accommodating. Very noisy - on 3rd floor you can still hear people talking on the street. The motorcycles and truck drivers engine sounds are loud enough to keep you awake so bring ear plugs.
