“The the property and gardens, of course are phenomenal. This is an older. estate property so some issues can be expected with the conditions of the finishes. Unfortunately, with us being seniors, it was very difficult for us to get our luggage to the third floor by stairs. The size of the rooms are also quite small but clean. Furniture in the room was appropriate for the period and comfortable. The staff was very helpful in trying to resolve outside issues such as Parking in town which is not...

“Victor and Johanna were so friendly and warm, we felt valued. The breakfasts were delicious! The hotel was clean, comfortable and we appreciated the easy parking. Being so close to restaurants and the town center made walking about so easy. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast.”

“Friendly helpful staff. Great beer and ale selections.”

“An amazing location and room. Great breakfast and convenient to walkable and drivable Lake District attractions.”

“Regrettably our room number 6. Did not smell nice. It had the smell of old wet trainers. We did mention it and a room diffuser was turned on. Some of the fixtures and fitting were falling apart. The shower was head was not appropriate for the size of the shower causing flooding. The staff were lovely and theroom was clean.”

“Sarah was amazing at multitasking. Superb service. Very spacious rooms. So clean and well maintained. Breakfast included. Dog friendly. Great views.”

“Nos encantó la decoración del hotel y de la habitación. Las sabanas, cama y almohadas muy cómodas. La atención excelente. Muy bien ubicado cerca de los pueblos mas turísticos pero en las afueras para estar rodeados de vistas y vegetación. ”

“No SPA was available as was advertised.”

“What a beautiful property finished to a very high standard of decor. Property was spotless, food was excellent and the owner's such lovely friendly people. Secure car parking for the time spent there. Would definitely recommend the Melrose guest house.”

“Very good overall but internal corridor security was confusing and could have been better labelled. We had to phone the desk to tell us how to use the security switches in order to get to the restaurant!”

“Fantastic location and friendly staff. Wonderful cooked breakfast. Great choice of local beer.”

“El hotel está en muy buenas condiciones. La habitación limpia y la atención del personal muy buena. Buen desayuno.”

“El desayuno muy bien y está céntrico. No tiene ascensor ”

“Lovely place but one woman Catrina was amazing as she was left to do everything, check us in , run the pub and restaurant. The room was not very clean. I am handicap and it was hard to get around. ”

“The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen. I think Expedia have been misleading not detailing the facts about that particular...
