If you are looking for just an okay accommodation this would work. It’s advertised a lot nicer than it is. Needs a lot of renovation and updating. Will say the bed was extremely comfortable! Unfortunately have to say we would not have chosen this as our 2 night stay had we known.

Several months ago, I booked a two-night stay at The Vermont Inn in Rutland, Vermont through Expedia. Based on the photos and positive reviews, it appeared to be a charming historic inn. Unfortunately, when we arrived on October 10, the property was nothing like what had been advertised. The staff were polite, courteous, and professional. However, the condition of the property was extremely disappointing. After checking in and viewing our room, we decided we could not stay. Another couple at the front desk was doing the same for similar reasons. A staff member explained that because we booked through Expedia, we would need to cancel through Expedia and that the property would approve the request. He also mentioned the inn was changing ownership and undergoing renovations. After contacting Expedia, we were told they would seek approval from the property to waive the cancellation fees. The following day, Expedia informed us that the property had denied the request, leaving us responsible for the full cost of the reservation despite having to find alternate lodging during a busy holiday and peak fall foliage weekend. The property's condition was far from its online presentation. We arrived to find furniture stored outside, a construction dumpster in the parking lot, worn carpeting, a battered stairwell, exposed wiring, and awkward attempts at common guest areas. I expected an older Vermont inn. I did not expect a property that appeared to be in such a state of disrepair.

Greeted with cookies and a cozy living room with games and cute decorations. Nice, clean room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was great (fresh berries, make your own waffles, muffins, etc). Breakfast is at 8 so you may not make first tracks in the slopes

Don't stay in the winter!

Our room was not clean with dirty tissues under the beds and lint everywhere. It was a very cold weekend with temps 0-10 degrees and when we got back we could not get the room above 66 degrees. Apparently there are 5 heater units on the same heat pump and if 1 unit is on cool, they all produce cool air? Shower was also luke warm at best. We thought there may have been many people using the hot water at the same time so we waited until 10pm and 10:45 (my wife) to shower and for the second night, no hot water. The staff is nice and the breakfast is a plus, but the property needs a ton of work. When your in VT and its zero out, the 2 most important things are heat and hot water.

Property under new ownership and in the midst of remodeling. The room i booked was not the room I was given because it was under going remodeling. The lady in the front desk was very nice and tried to see if we could have the room I booked but as it was under construction it wasn't possible to move rooms. I booked an inn wanting breakfast but because of the change in ownership they could not serve food. They did have instant oatmeal and coffee but it was very much subpar. The bathroom door was so warped you had to really push/pull hard to shut it. The heater also didn't work. They said the remodel would be completed by November so call to make sure the construction is completed.

We arrived to find the place in total disarray. The lobby was full of old furniture that was to be sold the next day in an estate sale. This was not communicated to us in the reservation. The rooms were clean, yet bare of any furniture to sit on besides the bed. My room smells of terrible cologne and I had to wash everything when I got home. The entire place was rundown and a bit scary. We were given a $50 refund, but deserve more! These kinds of things need to be communicated about so we have a choice. They made a quick buck off of us.

Just keeping it real, but this was the worst hotel stay we have ever had. It was a gross error of advertising. There was no restaurant, no game room and no hot tub. The picture of the room that we stayed in, which was the Sugarmaple, was not even accurate. It was painted a gross navy blue, and there was no mirrored dresser like the advertisement says. The overhead light in the room was some hideous chandelier that did not match anything and was not your quintessential Vermont Inn decor. The bathroom was clean enough, but the grout in the shower was mildew stained. When I first walked in to check in, the front desk appeared to be like a work zone. Very unprofessional . The only reason I didn’t say anything to them and try to leave was because it was the first week of October and I knew we would not be able to find another room anywhere else. They definitely need to come down on their price and change their advertising until they get it remodeled and back up to par.
