You’re right on top of the Trevi Fountain- you will not get a better view - you stay here for the location and the beauty of the fountain - the breakfast is edible the showers are small - it’s old but everything in Rome is old - it’s fun to stay for 3 days while you tour the city

Hotel is in one of the most prime locations in Rome. You are looking out on the Trevi Fountain. However the hotel is very antiquated and is in due need for renovations to modernize it.

We arrived at noon, hours before check-in but our room was ready, probably because we didn’t request any special room. The hotel arranged airport pickup for us and the driver was very helpful with door to door service. The hotel is quite dated but is very clean, including the bathroom. The AC worked well. The only issues were the pillowcases having a musty smell to them and the WiFi only worked in the lobby. The rooftop area was nice, breakfast was good, and the view was obviously amazing. The elevator was tiny (max 2 people or 1 person with 2 suitcases) The fountain was crowded 24/7 but our room was in the back of the building on the 3rd floor so we didn’t have any noise issues. The price is steep purely because of the location, so can’t really complain.

We had a room that looked down on the Trevi fountain. It was beautiful. It was also very noisy at all times. We had difficulty sleeping because of the noise with people shouting and glass bottles being kicked on the cobblestones. After two nights we asked for a different room and were accommodated. Much quieter. The continental breakfast was served on the rooftop and looked down on the Trevi fountain…very nice. Chamber maids were very nice. One front desk clerk was rude and dismissive…that alone ruined my opinion of the hotel. I would recommend getting the room that looks over the fountain and then switching hotels.

The hotel was clean and the view from the room was stunning. Staff wise some were more helpful than others and I couldnt help but feel some questioned if I truly had a reservation there especially during the tapas hour on the rooftop. The room was a bit dated but there was ac and it was close to a lot of shops and food options. Also, it was close to the Trevi so there was many taxis available.

The property was very unique and the history of this building is beautiful, but the pictures online are not representative of the actual space. It is in a prime location with a spectacular view of the Trevi Fountain and ~5-10 min walking distance from every major tourist attraction. The room was clean and the staff was kind. With that said, the facilities were highly outdated. The room was not big enough to even open one carry on suitcase, let alone a checked bag (we were traveling with two). The hotel does advertise that noise-free rooms are not a guarantee, but what we did not realize is that the Trevi Fountain now attracts an extremely dense and loud crowd nearly 24 hours of the day making sleep very difficult and transportation to/from the hotel difficult. The noise and crowds are not at all the fault of the hotel, who maintained a very secure environment, but worth noting when choosing a location to stay.

This was my third time staying at Hotel Fontana and it is my absolute FAVORITE hotel in Rome. Breakfast is delicious, the beds are comfortable and it is directly in front of the Trevi Fountain, making it the perfect central point in Rome. Every single person that works there is so kind, especially Maria upstairs. We will continue to come back to this hotel every time we stay in Rome! Don't forget to order a Limoncello Spritz from the bar upstairs!
