I felt like I should share our experience because we came here expecting a true five-star luxury stay and, unfortunately, it just didn’t feel that way.
We had just come from another hotel that was amazing, so maybe the contrast made it harder, but we also paid quite a bit more to stay here and really thought we were splurging on something special.
One of the biggest issues for us was communication between staff, especially when it came to food. We both need to avoid gluten and dairy, and we made that very clear at check-in, at meals, and throughout our stay. Unfortunately, we were sometimes told by one staff member that something was safe to eat, only to later be told by someone else that it wasn’t. We both ended up feeling unwell after eating, which was really disappointing and could have been avoided with clearer communication.
That said, the staff at the Italian restaurant, Wasabi, and the steakhouse were fantastic. They were careful, thorough, and really made an effort to make sure we were comfortable with what we were eating. We really appreciated that.
The buffet was much more difficult. They had a printed allergy sheet showing all the different icons for allergens, which seemed like a great idea, but none of the food at the buffet was actually labelled with those icons. So we still had to ask about almost everything, and the answers weren’t always consistent.
