Clean, fairly central location. Would have liked more flexibility on check-in time or ability to leave luggage. We were able to leave luggage only because other guests let us in. Confusion with other guesthouse with similar name meant a looong walk from bus stop. No lounge. Dining area simply a room with counter and 4 stools. Kitchen had stove top, microwave, kettle, a few dishes.

Terrible experience. I will never stay here again. Upon arrival at Reykjavík Central Guesthouse, we found the shared kitchen in complete disarray, with dishes left everywhere. While I could choose to avoid the kitchen and find alternative meal options, the overwhelming smell of curry throughout the property was impossible to escape. The odor permeated every common area on our floor and our room. It lingered in my hair, clothing, and personal belongings, making the stay extremely unpleasant. Unfortunately, we were assigned a basement room that was already damp, had very small windows, and offered virtually no way to improve ventilation. Even keeping the windows open did little to reduce the smell. When I raised the issue with management, I was told that because the facilities are shared, they have no control over what other guests choose to cook. While I understand that they cannot control guest behavior, I was disappointed that no effort was made to address the situation. Air fresheners, air purifiers or improved ventilation could have helped significantly. The property already posts house rules in the kitchen, so adding a request to be considerate of other guests when cooking seems reasonable. Overall, this experience made our stay very uncomfortable, and I would not recommend this guesthouse.
