Check in was so easy and fast. The friendliest staff!! The restaurant was right beside the hostel in the restaurant, and it was so good and convenient. Our room was so clean and comfortable. Very spacious. Thankful having the sink in our room. Our first time staying in a hostel, and you can’t beat the price!! Great value. The shared bathroom was easy to use and also clean. No complaints at all. Would definitely recommend!!

Perfect for 1 nighter heading to or from the south

Great affordable stop, we had 3 rooms of 4 booked wth two shared loos and a shower and it worked well for us. The breakfast was great too.

Guesthouse room was ok, shared bathroom was good. Location was in a small town in the middle of nowhere, Kind of like the place for truck stops. Breakfast was included but we were leaving before it was available in the morning so the host brought it to us the night before (nice!). Check-in was a bit challenging as Reception was not manned. You have to go to adjacent restaurant and ask to be checked in. The instructions tells you to contact them beforehand but the phone is never answered. Otherwise, a good night rest.

Good location, friendly staff, decent breakfast. Maybe the other rooms were nicer but the room with twin beds was just right near the parking space and weirdly laid out. It just looked ‘stripped’. Old curtains, no headboard, harsh overhead lights, sink in the room corner (which wouldn’t fit even a small bottle)

Comfortable and convenient stop on the way south

The room provided adequate comfort. It wasn’t luxurious, but it was clean. It was nice that breakfast was included. The location is perfect, right along Highway 1 for traveling south, such as to Vik.

Great place to crash for the night! The beds were comfy with sinks in the room. The breakfast in the morning had the most options I've ever seen for a complimentary breakfast at any accomodations! 10/10 would recommend.

This was the second time I booked a room at the Kanslarinn. However, two years ago I booked a room at the Kanslarinn Hotel, and this year my daughter and I stayed at the Kanslarinn Hostel. Both the hotel and hostel are at the same location, but have separate entrances. While the Kanslarinn Hotel includes private bathrooms, the Kanslarinn Hostel includes shared bathrooms. There were four rooms on our floor with one toilet, and one full bathroom, which included a toilet, sink, and shower. We didn't have any issues sharing the bathrooms. Both hotel and hostel included a breakfast buffet including cheese, cold cuts, fried and scrambled eggs, bacon, bread, butter, jam, tomato and cucumber slices, cereal, skyr, apple and orange juices, tea and coffee. The rooms in both cases were super clean and quiet, and the beds were very comfortable.

It's a basic room. One shower between 4. We found the room very noisy, right next to the kitchen and dining, so a lot of clattering until late. The staff at breakfast seemed more like security, checking room numbers and watching to make sure nobody took anything. Picked for the location which was to get the bus to Landmanalugger.
