This is a smaller resort, but very clean, well maintained, and the staff are pleasant. Erik made our trip! His attentiveness and great attitude, was excellent. Of all the resorts we have stayed at, the food at this resort was by far the best.

In the complex the resort is wonderful. It is in the middle of the jungle and all the people working there are lovely. Food very good with variety and choice. Personally I did not like the way to divide the customers between regulars, privileged etc. I understand marketing but in this kind of enviroment I think it is avoidable. Anyway I really recommend this resort and I would come back with my family again!

If you have food allergies they are amazing with accommodating. If you have Celiac Disease, this is the place to visit! I’ve been there 3 times and never have gotten sick. The staff at Catalonia Playa Maroma is like nowhere else! They are polite, kind, and go above and beyond to make your experience the best!

I stayed here for a few nights with my mother who is quite hard to please. Happy to report that we both enjoyed our stay, our room, the food, the pool and the beach. I especially enjoyed walking on the paths among the palm trees. I felt like I was on an expedition in the jungle.

Pros: - Beautiful resort with plenty of trees and nice landscaping - Helpful and kind staff - Well maintained and clean Cons: - The food in the main buffets were decent but no where near 5 stars. - The restaurants via reservations were good but they booked up fast. We couldn't even try the live cooking Japanese one even though we tried booking for 6 different days. - Too many of those wildlife “Coati’s” running around the resort

The whole scenery of this hotel is beautiful. Booking excursions directly through the hotel is also the way to go. Also, that little snorkeling trip for $35 is definitely a good bang for a buck even if you just want to enjoy the water and float around. The food and drinks were amazing. Haven’t had a chance to try the Japanese spot but I’ve heard great things about it. To me, the pretty much private beach was the best part. There isn’t much of a nightlife, at least for my time there but the drinking at the pool bar was definitely fun.

Staff was wonderful. Always nice, attentive and proactive. I really appreciated the daily activities they have. You will be able to tell the efforts they put in for good entertainment. The food was so good, I miss it now! I did have to wait for my check in time in the lobby for a while. But I still had access to the resort. The beach did have some seaweed but I saw they cleaned every morning and tried to stay on top of what comes up during the July season. Water was clear for the most part. The pool was huge and never felt overcrowded. They also have their own convenience store which came in handy for Aloe Vera. I hope I can come back one day! Thank you to all the staff and especially Giovanni in the pool bar. I did not catch the names of the buffet cooks but they were also all attentive.
