We stayed during a visit to Carnegie Mellon. Location was perfect. It's an older property but that adds to the charm. Good sound proofing. Cannot control the thermostat beyond a set temperature; Vents are high up the tall ceilings. AC system was quiet. I believe the hotel had a small bar but no other real food option. Plenty of nearby restaurants.

We've been staying at Mansions on Fifth for several years now. We love the hotel and location. However, we were disappointed to learn this time that the absolutely wonderful breakfast that was offered earlier (for like $22) is not longer offered. Instead, for $15 you can get a pre-wrapped dried out croissant from some factory in Pittsburgh. Major disappointment. They have the facilities to offer breakfast, all they need to do is cook it.

Staying in a mansion is a special experience that I enjoyed. Plus the location is really close to CMU if you have a kid attending the school. The king bed was really comfortable and the full size sofa bed was one of the better ones I ever had. Air Conditioning worked wonder. Hot water was strong. Please note there was no refrigerator in the room. Parking was a little tricky but we were always able to find a space. All the staff were attentive and courteous. Thanks!
