There is so much potential in this place! A beautiful old grand hotel that looks worn, but with some time and vision it could become a gem. Staff was excellent (especially Brid), breakfast was lovely each day, location and views across Oban Bay were spectacular. We would certainly stay here again and wish the ownership the very best as they seek to revive this lovely old property.

A lovely old hotel on the seafront with gorgeous views. Large room with high ceiling and confortable bed. Bathroom rather old fashioned, but everything worked fine and the shower was particularly good (a real shower not just a trickle like you sometimes get now!). Pleasant bar and restaurant, excellent breakfast.

The room was fine for what we needed. The only thing that put us off in bathroom was clumps of hair on bathmat ...put us off using it in shower. Staff were always helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Sat in lounge a while but I had a child with me so didn't really use bar apart from a couple of soft drinks ...although everyone was very tolerant of a 10-year-old in the bar/lounge. I would certainly come again

This could be such a lovely grand hotel but is in desperate need of repair and restoration. It has been patched here and there but is generally shabby and grubby. The damp walls and mouldy windows leave it bordering on being a health hazard. We spoke with one member of staff and she was extremely helpful. We didn’t eat in the hotel and we found free parking nearby. Just stayed the one night before catching the early ferry and it was ok for that but very overpriced. Extra charge for breakfast and parking on top of the already overpriced room. It’s a real shame as the location is perfect and it could be wonderful. Needs closing down and properly renovating to be a decent hotel. Would not stay again.

The location and price were very good. Everything in Oban was a short walk away. It's a cool old hotel that must have been grand in its day. But my room faced scaffolding and an overgrown area with construction debris that had been there a long time. My room was on the first floor (#22) and smelled horribly as it was noticeably musty the minute the door was opened. The staff had propped open the window even though the heat was on because they must have known about the odor. I should have but didn't raise the issue with staff. When I showered or used the sink, I could hear the gray water running out of the back of the building onto the debris area described above; not the sound of water running thru pipes, it was pouring out directly on the ground. I'm certain that was the source of the smell.

The bldg is not being maintained. The furniture and flooring in the rooms are beyond cleaning although the cleaning staff were working hard to do their best. Elevator was broken and nobody avail to help carry luggage upstairs. They said emails had been sent letting guests know regarding the elevators but any guests we spoke to had not received an email. Front staff not very helpful. Lots of garbage in the parking lot and hedges which we didn't see at any other hotel. The only positive was the breakfast which was decent. Will not book again.

This is an old hotel, and as such needs some major updates! Walking in the hall the floor is very soft, pretty sure the only thing keeping you from fall through is the carpet, the wall paper is falling off the walls, the elevator was a bit sketchy and from the parking lot through the basement to the elevator, was a disaster, pretty sure has not been cleaned in years! Our room was large, I did find the bed comfortable and the view was amazing! It has potential but it needs some major investment! Really it’s shocking that the hotel doesn’t have improvements happening with the amount of guests staying there, come on owners do better!! I’m pretty sure there are parts of the floor that are unsafe!
