Room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet was delicious, with the usual selections PLUS a cooked-to-order hot traditional English breakfast with a beautiful room to enjoy it in, and wonderful staff members to serve you. Front desk staff were very helpful to arrange transportation to Heathrow. A wealth of restaurants and shopping just a short walk away, as is the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and the train station. “Hotel correcto”

“We stayed at the Ropemaker for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and its restaurant. We had a lovely king-size bed that was very comfortable. The room had a portable air conditioning unit that kept it very cool, which we appreciated. However, it is noisy at night. The outdoor bar area is super cute and has little cabanas that seat about 4 guests. We'll definitely stay here again.”

“Perfect location for a stay close to family who live in Southsea. Everything we needed, including a bar to relax for an hour before bed. Free coffee and water in reception was awesome. All amenities on the doorstep in a wonderful safe environment. I would stay here every time.”

“Hotel opened this week but was far from being ready. No WiFi and no breakfast facility. Room was on 4th floor with no elevator. No air conditioning and impossible to open the window more than a few centimeters. Cheap material and tiny bathroom. It is a real shame it is listed as 4;stars but no indication given of the real state. ”

“Gorgeous hotel with lovely, polite & enthusiastic staff! We were upgraded to a fabulous suite & the parking options were great. We loved this unique boutique hotel which has been decorated & designed with care & passion. Local transport was brilliant & Southsea is a hidden blossoming gem which we’ll be back to see next year! We will of course be checking back in to the Clarence or one of its sisters. Thank you for making our stay so memorable x”
