We came to Grand Beach Hotel Surfside to celebrate my birthday, expecting a relaxing and enjoyable getaway with my mom and sister. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing.
I do want to give credit where it’s due. The front desk and valet staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, and our room was very clean and well maintained. We truly appreciated that.
However, several other aspects of our stay made the experience uncomfortable. At times, we received prolonged staring and judgmental looks from some other guests, particularly regarding what we were wearing. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome while simply trying to enjoy our vacation and celebrate my birthday.
We had planned to spend time at the adults-only rooftop pool, but it was at full capacity, so we had to use the first-floor pool instead. To make matters more disappointing, the rooftop bar was also closed during our stay, which further limited the rooftop experience we had been looking forward to.
The first-floor pool area was chaotic. There were several iguanas roaming around, and two children repeatedly sprayed my mom, my sister, and me with water guns. We politely asked them several times to stop, but they continued. We eventually spoke directly to their father and asked him to please correct the behavior, but unfortunately, he allowed it to continue.
