Well located and quiet

Hostal Anton Martin is in a very good location, plenty of places nearby for meals, tapas, breakfast, coffee. Our room was at the back, so nice and quiet and little noise from other guests. Good to have air con, which wasn't too noisy and great to have a fridge. Room felt a little cramped but plenty of storage space and a decent shower in the ensuite. Very good location for Prado,Retiro and Rein Sofia and also Atocha station. Also walkable for Plaza Mayor and Metro nearby.

Excellent place and great location. The attendant Jose was very polite and professional! The only problem we had was in the room 207 which bathroom was stinking a little bit probably because the plumbing was poorly constructed.

Calling this property a hostel is an understatement, from the staff, to the facilities and the room, it’s a hotel! The location is great, there is a laundry mat and a bar across the street and a metro station (Anton Martin) up the street. It is greatly located as most of the tourist attractions are just a 20 minute walk away maximum. The rooms and bathrooms were extremely clean and modern and everything was perfect! I would recommend and stay here again without a doubt!

The hostel is situation close to sightseeing and transportation which is a plus. Pick up of key and breakfast takes place at another hostal. There is a terrible smell in the lift and the hostal area looks old and worn out and do not reflect the prize of the room.

Perfectly nice and serviceable stay

The Hostal Anton Martin itself doesn't have a reception. You check in and have breakfast at the nearby Hostal Cervelo. The Anton Martin is clean, the room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The price was very reasonable for what you got. I would stay here again.

The rooms are small but new and extremely clean. There is a small fridge and safe. You have to go to another building, a five minute walk away, for reception, to check in and out and eat breakfast. Staff was very helpful.

First of all I received text day of check in that check in was at different hotel a block away. I had to get my card from there. My actual hotel was inside a very old building that was partially renovated. The room itself was new and clean, however it was so small I could barely open 2 carry ons. The hallways with the doors to the rooms felt like a storage area and the block outside didn’t feel very safe. The front desk person however at the other hotel was very nice and helpful. However, I would not be able to stay there more than one day.

The room was great and better than expected. The only issue was with a problematic toilet flush, which we reported. Maintenance man came quickly to check it. While it wasn’t completely fixed, we were able to take the faceplate off and use / flush as normal. The woman in reception who checked us is was incredibly friendly and helpful. When we booked, breakfast was only available in their other hostal a short distance. This was fine as our friends were staying in that hostal. We don’t book breakfast but enquired about joining our friends and we were told this was fine, which it was for the first two mornings. On the third morning, another receptionist would not allow us to have breakfast with our friends and insisted that breakfast was to be taken in our hostal. Again, at the time of booking, breakfast was described as being available in the other hostal. The person was not being at all friendly or polite. It was not an issue of language differences, they were clearly rude. We were taken aback and paid for the breakfast in our hostal. Retrospectively we should have said not to bother and gone elsewhere. This did upset us but on our last morning had breakfast in a lovely little cafe close by. We would still recommend Aston Martin as a place to stay and the location was great. The other staff were all so friendly and our room was cleaned every day.

I rarely write negative hotel reviews, but I rely on reviews when choosing hotels, so I feel obligated to share our experience. The positives: the location is excellent, within walking distance of the Prado with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. With one exception, the staff we encountered were friendly. The breakfast was very good, and the laundry service was fast and well done. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. This property charges full-service hotel prices—we paid up to $245 per night—but delivers the service of a budget hostel. A few weeks before arrival we were informed we had to pick up our room key at another hostel about a 10-minute walk away. Had this been disclosed before booking, I never would have stayed here. We arrived near midnight, and I was left standing on the sidewalk with four suitcases while my husband walked to get the keys. During our five-night stay, I never once saw anyone at the reception desk. On departure, we couldn't store our luggage because there was no luggage room, so we had to drag our four suitcases back to the off-site hostel in 90° heat. The refrigerator barely cooled bottled water. When we complained, we were told, "That's as good as it gets." The biggest problem is management. They appear to be operating five hostels with one receptionist, leaving guests with virtually no on-site service. I felt sorry for the staff—they were clearly overwhelmed. Charging $245 a night for this level of service is unacceptable.

Great location, walking distance to many popular sightseeing areas. Hotel is still pretty new, rooms are as great no issues. only inconvenience is having to check in and check out at the hotel around the corner, for the reason that they are still finishing up there reception area. Very friendly staff.
