Shame as this place misses the mark, could be so much better as in a good area, just kinda shabby.. Lovely friendly guy on Reception. Stairs need a really good vacuum and a repaint. Room itself was really small. Lots of maintenance issues, curtain coming off curtain rails (and an awful curtain covering the beautiful original window - paint the window frame and put up a blind to show off this feature), bathroom didn’t smell clean, hand soap dispenser wedged under mirror so hard to use, towel hook falling off wall, shower hose leaks, no sink plug, bedside lamp hanging off wall, socket doesn’t work next to bed, walls grubby.

It was an incredibly worn down and dirty hotel, the carpet on the stairs was probably over 50 years old with ingrained dirt. The curtains were torn, the safety box didn't work, etc. Non-existent service, for example it wasn’t possible to get an extra pillow or blanket. The bed was both too short and narrow for 2 people. What made us choose the hotel was the location AND that it was stated in many reviews that it was 10/10 for cleanliness. The staff must have written that themselves. When we pulled away the blackout curtain, the whole room was full of mites, incredibly dirty as previously stated. A Eriksson

Despite some negative reviews I found this an entirely passable and even comfortable stay. It is an old pub so as with all old buildings it has some wear and tear but that’s part of the charm. Super location, owner is a complete champ! Would stay again for sure!

Friendly welcome, helpful staff. Nice pub below, not affected by noise. Be aware of narrow winding staircase to rooms if mobility problems, no lift.

Overall not a bad place. Maybe not so family friendly as it's over a pub & certain nights the music & people were loud. It is in a very good location. You can walk to many sites or easily get an Uber/taxi. Staff were very helpful & friendly.

Such a lovely hidden gem! The room was well maintained and comfortable with a small bar downstairs where we could grab a drink. The staff even let us store our luggage prior to check in so we could explore the city. Would definitely stay again!
