“The staff were great and helpful, Breafast was very good, and our evening meal exelent bar was well staffed in the evening and well stocked , unfortunately the cleanliness of our room was not good , especially the shower, which had black mould on the tiles and shower door was in need of some maintenance, the toilet was not clean behind seat and in the hinges of seat and lid was not clean , and the sink has a large crack in it .”

“We only had a stop over, we stayed in the part that I guess was modern a few years ago, it could do with a refresh now and it's become dated. It needs a bit of money spent on it.”

“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. “V disappointing stay. Booked a superior room, which looked very nice on Expedia. Unfortunately our room looked nothing like the pictures online, the decor was very tired especially the bathroom which had paint flaking off the walls. Further, the room was very hot and with the need to open windows, very noisy due to the road in front of the hotel. “8 of us stayed for 2 nights, the dinner and breakfast were excellent, the staff were very welcoming and went beyond our expectations with the friendly and efficient service they gave us.”

“Very British. Dicker Teppichboden, alte Bilder, gemütliche Bar, gutes Pubfood, ne ordentliche Auswahl an gezapftem. Der Style war auch sehr schön. Viele Bilder, viel Kram. Der Preis war auch gut. Einzig die Schlüsselkarten funktionieren recht unzuverlässig, weil sie nicht mit Bluetooth Geräten in Verbindung kommen dürfen. Da ist bei mir leider schwer.”

“Breakfast is the problem. We were told that Sunday there is no breakfast, which is not written anywhere on the website; so we had to have - and pay for - breakfast somewhere else. Then, when we had breakfast the other days, we were asked to order the evening before (not written on Expedia as well) and what we were given was barely enough. We all had to spend extra money to reach a very minimum bearable breakfast - as we are people who were in Peterborough to work, not holiday.”

“El hotel esta bien para una o 2 noches, cerca de la carretera y de fácil aparcamiento. Además hay muchas opciones de comida en el mismo predio. Lo recomiendo, el personal muy amable y atento. Faltaría un poco de almacenaje o estanterías para colocar la ropa, pero como dije antes es un hotel para 1 o 2 noches.”

“Excellent food in a lovely village next to a main road however when you shut the windows the traffic noise was vastly reduced. The close room was great value.”
