If you like your stay a little rustice, with great views and convenient to Lake Placid and Whiteface without the hustle and bustle. This is the place for you. We love it and come back every year for our anniversary. The Hungry Trout restaurant is fantastic... staff, food is amazing, highly recommend if your are staying at the resort.

Simple but clean in an area close to where we wanted to hike. The door code to our room didn't work when we checked in, and no one was in the office, so we had to call for a code. At checkout, the staff in the office was very friendly and helpful.

The Hungry Trout is a neat little hotel very convenient to many area attractions. The owners are very helpful. The rooms could use some updating, but overall fit our needs for our vacation. A larger fridge would have been better.

Getting into our room was not a smooth process - the code # given for our room did not match what was on the check-in screen upon arrival, we had to go up to the restaurant to get an updated code. The restaurant was very good (a bit pricey but very delicious) The room was OK, a little dated and the mattress was VERY HARD! All 3 of us had difficulty sleeping. Location is great!

The Hungry Trout Resort is a classic place to stay if you are interested in fishing the Ausable River. Very convenient with private access to the river. The fly shop on premises is excellent with great guides! The Pub was great in years past but is closed now. I really hope it reopens. The upscale restaurant is very nice with great views of the falls. Overall a solid place to stay without the hustle of staying in Lake Placid but close enough to go there for dinner.

We were there just before summer season started. So the pool and grounds weren't quite ready. But the room was neat and clean. The staff busy, but helpful. We would definitely return. It was a perfect spot for high peakers!

A/C was a little loud and the room a bit outdated. But the room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom newly redone. Parking was great although the lot could use some resurfacing. All in all, a good value. By the way, the Keurig coffee maker did not work, but the was one in the office which was great. The place is unmanned but even without staff, there is some one reachable by phone or email so that was not a concern.
