The staff were genuinely lovely and welcoming, the room was great, and we really enjoyed the spa facilities. There’s a lot to like about the hotel and it’s clear that the team are trying hard to provide a special experience.
That said, for the price of the stay, I felt it was missing just a little bit of the “wow factor” that would take it from a very good hotel to a truly exceptional one.
The main disappointment was dinner service. We weren’t offered drinks when we sat down, and our mains took over an hour to arrive. In fact, I think they only arrived after I chased this up. We were told that the delay was due to staff shortages, which I completely appreciate can happen, and to the hotel’s credit, they did remove the meals from our bill to acknowledge the inconvenience.
I don’t want this review to come across as overly critical, as we genuinely enjoyed our stay and the staff themselves were lovely. However, when you’re paying a premium price, you naturally expect the overall experience to feel a little more polished and seamless.
There’s a lot of potential here, and with a few small improvements, I think Schloss Hotel could deliver the truly memorable experience that its setting and price point promise. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but it just fell slightly short of the wow factor we were hoping for.
