This hotel was conveniently located near the center of town and everything you may wish to see in Inverness is just a few minute walk. There is minimal parking at the hotel, but the multi level city park is an easy 6 minute walk, even with roller bags. We would recommend staying there and if we come back, it will be our location of choice.

Close to train station, parking out front if you are lucky to get a spot. If unable to get a parking spot out front, I parked around the corner and it was only a short walk. Large room allowed for plenty of storage for luggage, it was nice and warm for our 2 night stay. Staff were helpful at reception regarding directions and nearby amenities. Laundry was 4 minutes away so easy to do. Hotel is close to Victorian markets and walkable to the loch. Overall enjoyed my stay here

A brief one night stay in between taking the sleeper - room was large and beds were comfortable. Ideally situated in the centre of Inverness we were able to get about easily. Did not have breakfast but did use the bar - service was friendly and prompt. Use of the luggage room was also handy as we took a tour out to Loch Ness in the rain. Hotel did provide umbrellas!

Great location close to bus station. Luggage storage prior to check-in and post check-out was a breeze. Old hotel with some quirks and lots of character.

Hotel is really showing it's age. Windows were roting and broken, so little fresh air. Bedding was old and tired. Old plumbing. Slow single lift shared with cleaning staff. However, great location right outside the train station.

Absolutely lovely hotel to stay in in Inverness. The staircase is really beautiful and the room we stayed in was a good size and really clean. Breakfast in the morning was a continental which had plenty to chose from and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Most the the staff on reception were really helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help you if they could. Very convenient for the train and bus station and walking into the city centre itself. Would definitely stay here again.

Check in was quick, front desk staff were nice, shower was great! Location is very convenient. My room was on the 2nd floor and I heard a fair amount of street noise at night and in the morning with the window open. I’d stay there again for location and the large room size, which is hard to find.

Room was clean and staff was helpful in getting a taxi to the airport booked for me. It was more of a transit hotel than I had realized. It is connected to a train station and across the street from the busses. I also wish the door had an additional latch or deadbolt, as a female solo traveler I was uncomfortable not having that.

This is my third time staying at this hotel and I always go back if I can. The location is fantastic, a 30 second walk to the train station and a few minutes from bars, restaurants, shops and the bus station. The hotel is always clean, the staff always friendly and the selection at the continental breakfast is second to none. The decor is a little outdated and worn out, nothing that a freshen up wouldn't fix, but regardless, it is a solid hotel and I will definitely continue to stay here during my visits to Inverness.

Old-World Highland Charm in a Fantastic Location The Royal Highland Hotel is superbly located literally steps from Inverness railway station, making it extremely convenient when travelling with luggage. The moment you enter, the magnificent staircase catches your attention, and the lobby has a cosy, old-world British charm that makes you feel as though you've stepped back in time. Check-in was simple and our third-floor room was spacious and comfortable, with a sitting area, writing desk, TV and kettle with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a good size, with excellent shower pressure and a lovely heated towel rail. There is no refrigerator or apparent air-conditioning, although opening the window kept us comfortable. The old wooden floors also creak considerably. Our only maintenance issue was a slow-draining shower, which I mentioned at checkout. The location is excellent not only for the station but also for exploring Inverness. Restaurants, shops, the River Ness and Inverness Castle area are all within an easy walk. This is an older hotel, and that comes with a few quirks, but its history, character and location make it memorable. We would certainly consider staying again. Rating: 7.5–8/10.
