This place is great. The room is a good size, and the view from the back porch is amazing. Property was quiet. I didn’t have any issues hearing noise from other rooms. Right down the road from downtown Idyllwild.

The location is amazing. But the cabin need renovation. Breakfast was cute. In basket on door. I think it is great idea for easy people. The small town is cute and great. The people there are excellent . I love space with limited social so for me was great. However the cabin ...one more need renovation... but the silence there was worth $$$$$$$$. THANK YOU I come back

Definitely not the experience we’ve grown accustomed to at this former gem. Unfortunately, it seems to have new ownership or management that simply doesn’t have the same level of care and love for the inn that was so evident in the past. The service and overall vibe are gone, and that’s a shame. The location is still great, but the service and quality of the property are in steep decline. Sadly, our last stay will be our final stay.

This is a historic place in Idylwild and we were so lucky to be able to stay here. Dolly Parton used to stay here before she bought her Idylwild cabin. We came here right after she passed to pay tribute to her memory and find some solace in the mountains. The bunkhouse is a refuge. Quiet and serene. The perfect place for creatives to create. This feels like a special mountain home, not a new development with no soul. This place has a lot of heart, soul, and so many stories to tell, you just have to be quiet and listen. The people that own it, they love it and take the best care of the old gem. Please go there and pay tribute to the queen of kindness. Write a beautiful song or poem. Enjoy the hummingbirds and butterflies from your balcony and the moon in the sky. We love the bunkhouse and hope to always be able to return. So thankful that the owners are taking care of her.

Place on a good location, close to the downtown, fair for the price.I find, the town stores and most of the places are closed between Monday to Wednesday, so it’s quiet and not much to do. I enjoy the San Jacinto park for a good relaxing walk, good places to eat near by, people very friendly. definitely come and join Idywill.

It's a cute place. Rooms are very dark and hard to see and find things. After 10-hour hike I just wanted a shower and rest, but shower soap dispenser was completely empty. The breakfast is definitely not desireable: I took only one bite of the hard and metalic scone and same with the mealy apple. The location is definitely a drive from the cute town because walking would be dangerous.

The Bunkhouse is an exceptional property that is within walking distance to downtown Idyllwild. Microwave, coffee pot, and refrigerator,silverware and dinnerware all in room and we found very useful. Beautiful views and close to some great hiking. Raj and the gentleman who was married and from LA, who checked me in. Made everything so simple and we so friendly and welcoming. Mike

I had a wonderful stay at the Idyllwild Bunkhouse from August 7–9 and can’t recommend it enough. I always try to support locally owned, family run accommodations whenever I travel, and this was exactly the kind of place I love finding. My mom and I were driving up from Los Angeles and ended up arriving late in the evening/early in the morning (12am), so I called ahead to ask about checking in after hours. Someone answered the phone right away, was incredibly friendly and professional, and walked me through the late check-in process. It was simple, stress free, and really put my mind at ease before I arrived. There was a small issue with my original room, but the owner handled it immediately with genuine kindness and professionalism. He went above and beyond to make sure my mom and I were comfortable, and my new room was fantastic. That level of care and hospitality really stood out and made me feel like a valued guest rather than just another reservation. The complimentary breakfasts (arrived in baskets around 9am) each morning were absolutely delicious and such a highlight of the stay. Everything felt thoughtful and welcoming, adding to the cozy atmosphere of the property. Most importantly, I felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of throughout my visit. It’s clear that the owners truly care about their guests and take pride in creating a warm, welcoming experience. Thank you for such a memorable stay. I’ll absolutely be back the next time I’m in Idyllwild!
