Positive: A lovely building with really nice decor in the bars and guest rooms. Our room was clean and well maintained, and housekeeping was good. The tea and coffee making facilities were also a nice touch. Negative: There was no air conditioning, which made the room quite uncomfortable. Some of the communal areas felt dated and a little shabby, especially compared with the much nicer bar areas. The beds were very small and it could be quite noisy outside. Breakfast was also disappointing, with defrosted frozen fruit, runny cheap yoghurt and powdered granola, which didn’t feel in keeping with the overall appearance of the hotel.

I Should have booked a bigger room because the ‘cosy double’ was tiny. I could hardly walk around the bed and it had a tv shelf which was sticking out too far. We made do for 2 nights but our room on the side was very noisy so we didn’t sleep well. The radiator was very dusty too. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast wasn’t the greatest quality food but enough to set you up for the day.

We enjoyed our visit and the staff were friendly and helpful but the rooms could have been cleaner. The building is old and it shows. Lots of toothpaste splatter on the wall next to sink, dirty paint, worn out carpet and you can hear noise from hallway. We had a great time and location was perfect.

Location was great, and your welcomed by a very nice bar that looked good. Check in - pretty poor. No information on breakfast, no information on what the hotel had to offer. Just a card payment taken and a key given Breakfast was fine and the service as we entered the restaurant was really good to be fair Room was cold, half the shower panel was missing. A little noisy from the beer garden down stairs. Lift was also broken Definitely looks better than it is. I would stay again, mainly for location and only if price was competitive

The hotel was stylish, a good central location with very nice and helpful staff. unfortunately I had a poor night sleep as the windows in my hotel room need updating and it didn’t block out the sound from the road outside. The room itself was tidy and clean but in the bathroom the lino was starting to come up and the paint work under the bath and the cladding around sink could do with touch ups from a wear and tear you would get from daily wet use. The breakfast was decent with plenty on offer, I would say the choice of bacon was on the fatty side and watery but suppose that’s a personal choice. I would return but would request a room on a higher floor to rear of building to try and block out that sound.
