We booked the hotel for a couple of reasons, the first being the special formal Japanese dinner and the second was a private Onsen in our room. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the hotel and the amenities very much. The staff was excellent in providing Assistance and support, meeting our every need. Our server for the formal Japanese dinner was Theint, and she was very well-versed in English and very informative as she prepared and served the meal to us. It met all of our expectations and we would highly recommend the Nanouso Hotel as a place to stay for travelers.

Our stay at Nanpuso was fantastic. Check-in was seamless, thanks to the professional front desk staff, Clark Ms. Mano, who went above and beyond to assist us. While the dinner was satisfactory, the breakfast was impressive with numerous delicious options. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely return.

The room is very spacious with a great view and a very good onsen inside our room. Staff are also very helpful to help facilitate our late check in but it’s a little bit frustrating as email is the only way available for contacting the hotel. Food quality is average and I wish there are more diversity for our meal. I also hope to have more facilities to spend the time in hotel.

The kaiseki meal that we paid extra for was not worth the money, but we wanted a traditional Japanese experience so we had to make the most of it. The breakfast buffet was much better with a lot more selections of food. The drive to the hotel was beautiful but very windy and the most of the entire drive was in a single lane. Our rooms were across a designated enclosed smoking room but we can smell the cigarette smoke in the rooms. The toilet is separate from the bathroom inside the room and it’s very tiny if you don’t like being in tight a space. Although the rooms are clean they have an old and outdated look to it. The beds and futons are firm and weren’t comfortable for someone that’s used to a softer mattress. Overall, we had a good experience and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and tranquil escape from the busy city atmosphere.

I was travelling with my 2 adult sons and the experience was amazing! They do not think I can top this and I believe them. The service to our room was great and the kaiseki dinner was amazing! The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. Breakfast was a bit more aggressive as everyone was fending for themselves but still very good food and lots of options from Western to Japanese. We had an Onsen in our room because of tattoos but it was such a great experience as we all took turns. The area of Hakone is beautiful and it would be nice to spend more than 1 night to discover a bit more. The only thing that was a bit difficult was the humidity in the room but I eventually managed to adjust the air flow to my satisfaction.

Our stay at Hotel Nanpuso in Hakone was just amazing. The hotel offers beautiful hot springs and a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by nature. We stayed in a room with an open-air bath, which was a truly special experience, peaceful, private, and perfect after a long day of exploring. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and everything was clean and comfortable. This hotel is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy Hakone’s traditional charm and natural beauty in a relaxing, luxurious way. We would love to come back again!

Hotel Nanpuso has an older, traditional feel, which adds to the charm of this type of Hakone onsen hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable, if a bit old fashioned, and the staff were professional and kind. Dining options are limited, especially midweek or if you do not plan to go back into town, so it is best to book a room that includes meals. Overall a relaxing and pleasant stay.

The room was nice although our “garden” view was just a tiny patch of grass and some rocks. The service was excellent at this hotel. The onsen was nice although there wasn’t an outdoor area, just a large rectangular pool. Very nice Kaiseki dinner served in the room.

Nice!

Rooms are big and airy, and affordable even for a solo traveller like me. It means more towards a traditional feel than modern, and it's got everything I needed to make my stay comfortable and memorable. I just wish they'd be more open towards tattoos in their public bath, but there are tattoo tolerant onsen on walking distance.

Lovely hotel with charm. We had a half Japanese and half continental room for 3, located in the annex, and it was pretty spacious. The staff was absolutely fantastic throughout our stay and we loved the dinner and breakfast. It was great to be able to use a shuttle (for a very small fee) to take us to the train station at the end of our trip as the walk is a bit much with suitcases.

Highly recommend splurging for the upgraded room with the open-air hot spring bath and full kaiseki dinner. It is a big step up from the standard room and absolutely worth it. The private hot spring on the balcony is incredible, especially after a long day of exploring or hiking. Dinner service was excellent — the young lady who served me was polite, professional, and very accommodating despite the language difference. Breakfast the next morning was also great, with a wide variety of dishes. A wonderful, memorable Hakone experience.
