Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities
Disliked: Staff & service
The cleaning lady was very nice. I was only going to be there for 4 nights and so I hung the "Do not disturb" sign up (I'm not one of those tourists who expects my bed made every day - I can keep things tidy myself), but she still kindly left two bottles of water for me every morning and that helped - I am so grateful for her kindness.
Also, the breakfasts were very nice. It was buffet style and the food choices were very good.
Now for the negative stuff - it's like a minimum-security prison there. You need to use your e-card constantly to get through various doors. One morning the doors leading to the elevator were locked and the button to push to open them did not work. I walked to the 4th floor from the 5th and took the elevator to the lobby, but it was frustrating trying to convey this problem to the guy at the front desk. Even with a translator he kept offering to reactivate my e-card but that wasn't the problem.
I just wanted him to know there was zero reason to lock people out of gaining access to elevators. On WeChat staff sent me excuses, but I didn't see why they needed to lock those doors when the button would not work.
Why so much security? This is China, things are pretty safe. The hotel seems to be a part of a larger building - 19 floors (?) - so maybe they want to keep those people out of the hotel?
Then my last night the air conditioning stopped working. There are NO WINDOWS to open in a standard room. It became suffocatingly hot in there.
