A great view of the lake was a wonderful plus. Our room was on the third floor, which made our view spectacular, but there are no elevators. We saw this in three of the hotels we stayed in on this trip. This is an interestingly designed hotel with much potential. But it needs some TLC.

The room was very clean and it was quiet. A really nice view. I personally didn't care for climbing stairs to the third floor. Would be fine for a young person. And no coffee till after 7am... I'm an early riser. But, it was overall a good stay.

We really enjoyed our room on third floor with a spa tub and the views of lake Superior, however, the bath towel rack fell down and the curtain rod completely fell down and took the curtains with it twice due to them being cheap. The hotel is certainly dated. I had an issue with Expedia and had to contact them because a fire pit was specified and it turns out there's a fire pit a few blocks away, The staff had no idea what they were talking about when I confronted them about this issue otherwise great location. Nice pool area breakfast with horrible. We bought our own

Older lodge for all Your basic needs. The pool was so fun for the kids and the hot tub was relaxing for parents. Smaller than pictured but still nice. Clean but older set up. There was breakfast (bagels, cereal, coffee etc.) very basic but so kind to have it out. Location is amazing- close to Lake Superior. Quick drive to the peninsula to explore. Overall lovely and homey. Could use a cosmetic upgrade but our needs were met staying at the Aspen Lodge!

So I rated this at 5 stars for everything because I can’t help but consider price in my ratings. This place is one of the very few affordable places in Grand Marais. I was very impressed by how clean everything was and great the amenities were. My family had so much fun in the pool (three teenagers) and we were in walking distance to everything in Grand Marais. The breakfast was bagels, (actually pretty good) bread, cereal, oatmeal. No proteins but it’s a free breakfast with the room. The coffee was good, not the instant crap some hotels have. The view from out room was pretty. Yes, it is dated. But please, keep it dated and the prices as they are!!!

There is no television or elevator at this property. Our room was clean and the continental breakfast minimal - no OJ. And no bathroom other than in your room. The restaurant, My Sister's Place, is an easy walk from the hotel and all we needed. At $186 per night, they should buy new full size smart TVs so we can at least mirror our devices.

Best bidget hotel in Grand Marais with a pool and continental breakfast. We stayed 3 nights and the pool was closed the first night because they just added chemicals. The carpet is getting very stained and worn, and the staff no longer stocks enough pool towels in the pool area, so we had to ask for towels in order to use the pool. The room decor and layout is standard 1990's. But overall everything is in good shape, functional, and decently clean. The A/C, heat, TV, and fridges always work to ensure comfort during our stay. We played games at night around the included table in our room and the 3 room chairs served well for that purpose. There is a huge foyer table we could place all our luggage on for easy access without bending over. The views of the lake were spectacular from the 3rd floor and the location was convenient for accessing all the in-town attractions. This hotel always meets our expectations year after year with no regrets or unwanted surprises..
