Hotel in Bellville, IL-In a residental area

My stay was HORRIBLE!!! It was raining very hard outside and inside my room!! The carpet was soaked! After not sleeping all night because I had to listening to the rain running into my hotel room the hotel maintence started banging on my room door at 7AM wanting in to see the damage in the room. I would have been better off "sleeping" in my car!

When we pulled back the bedding ther was sand an black hair on the sheets. My wife had to flip the sheets so we could go to bed. When we complianed the Desk Clerk shook her head and said "those girls" no appology.

Hard to find and close to nothing.

This hotel is in more of a residential area. It is further from the sights of St. Louis than we were led to believe. Barely any toilet paper the first night. Then they didn't replace the bath soap for the second night. The hotel wasn't close to any major highways or interstates. The route to and from the hotel were confusing. If visiting someone that lives within a mile of the hotel, it might be okay. Otherwise, you would be well served to stay elsewhere.

Would have ben better off renting a jail cell

This place was nasty. The room smelled like someone died, there was a hole in the comforter of one the beds and the sure was turned off in the room in the middle of summer. The reason I have service high rating was the lady understood my concerns. Hotels.com customer service is a joke. Took 3 days, 6 phone calls(got hung up on 4 times), and roughly 3 hours of my time.

Don't expect a lot, but I couldn't handle this one

For the price I wasn't expecting 5 stars, but this was just shy of a truck stop motel. You can tell they have been trying to update it and keep it nice but it's just old, tiered and I didn't feel comfortable with the area. Breakfast was pretty much non-existant. Boxes of cereal(big one's like at home) and a jar of PB with bread...didn't even bother. There was no bath tub, just a truck stop like shower stall that I felt very uncomfortable using but needed to shower. I've felt better at a KOA camp...sorry- like I said you can tell they are trying, guest servies was very freindly and nice but I wouldn't stay here again.

Oh my

The hotel used be nice now it's worse off, with more of a price tag. It mostly houses college students for the near by college. The bed was comfortable, but that's about it. Our toilet was filthy when we got there, thelight bulb burned out in the bathroom. No one could come fix it until the next day when we were checking out. I would have changed it, if they gave me the light bulb. The security door was left propped open, the neighborhood isn't horrible, but a lone guy sitting and waiting in the parking lot, loudly listening to music and never entering the hotel, doesn't ease my concerns. The breakfast was BAD , but there is an awesome restaurant next door with GREAT breakfast, and cheap. So skip the stay and just eat at the restaurant next door.

Needs improving

Staff was very pleasant however as I know what this hotel was in its prime and when it hit rock bottom. It is now right in between. Spend more time and money on maintenance and less on flowers, albeit beautiful, they are unimportant if you are looking at unsightly building materials in your bathroom. Kudos for trying. Keep up the effort and you will have a gold mine.

Manager very helpful in getting us a refrigerator in spite of the fact that the hotel was fully booked. Breakfast was good with eggs and sausage plus usual cereals etc.

What a Dump!!!!

I knew I was getting an inexpensive hotel, but this was way below any realm of expectations I ever had. When we first arrived the outside lights weren't even on at 7:30 p.m. The light switch next to the door doesn't do anything. The toilet was very loosely secured to the floor. It had been a long time since I've seen a room with a window unit mounted through the wall. The bathtub didn't drain, so after being in the shower for two minutes you are standing in a pool of water.

Never again hotel

What an incredible dump. This should have its 2.5 star rating stripped. The dead fish floating in the bowl was the first indicator. The front sign was not lit. The hotel was next to the train tracks in the rough part of town. The stench of chlorine and mildew permeate the halls. Breakfast which is to be provided was not served the first day. A minimalist approach by management is obvious.

Overpriced hotel stay

The rooms on the second floor were empty, and the doors were propped open, and gave us the creepy feeling that no one cared. Our room keys quite working the second day, and the desk clerk suggested that we did not know how to use them. She went with us to the room, and saw for herself they did not work. She did send up new keys within five minutes. Not really close to much, and while the rooms were being remolded, the hotel seemed creepy.

Not worth the cost

We stayed here on our way through St. Louis and would have loved to have leave as soon as we checked in but we had already booked it through hotels.com. We booked a non-smoking king room, but showed up to a smoking room with two beds. Also, there were two 12 year olds shooting off fireworks outside of our bedroom window all night. We called local police after the hotel refused to put a stop to it and they never showed up. I'd recommend spending an extra $20 and staying somewhere else.

close to Amana Colonies

The accessibility to the Colonies was very easy from the hotel, even better that first expected. Plenty of restaurant availability near the hotel.

needs work on skills

the surrounding neighborhood was not my ideal situation, a little blighted. when checking in, the desk clerk announced my room # aloud; 3 times. the security doors were not locked after dark. one guest was grilling on his tailgate in the parking lot. the room was nice enough and showed signs of recent remodeling. i had to drive through some rough neighborhoods to get there and the security wasn't very comforting.

Will do in a pinch

Good: Hotel is close to everything in Belleville. Family living/working on-site is making improvements. Pool is nice. Needs improvement: Hotel infrastructure has seen better days. Security issues, back door NO LOCK & parking lot (see traveler's tip).

Ok Stay

The location was farther away from the freeway than I expected and I had a difficult time finding the place. The room and hotel seemed nice even though an older building; however, my room smelled of mold and that night my allergies flared up.Needless to say I didn't sleep all that great. The staff was very friendly and helpful which helped when checking in and out.

Great room, very clean bathroom, friendly staff

For an overnight stay, I was most pleased with this EconoLodge. Not only was the bathroom pleasantly decorative and well-stocked with common items, but the king-size bed was most comfortable, and the continental breakfast was suitable. This is a family-friendly motel, with an excellent restaurant next door.
