We stayed at Dear Faro just out of season and were genuinely surprised by how lovely it was for what we paid. Calling it “budget” almost feels a little harsh because everything is done so well.
The location is really convenient for exploring Faro city, and getting to and from the airport couldn’t have been easier – around a 7-minute Uber costing us just €5–€7.
The rooms feel really solid and well made, with thick walls and doors, and we found it remarkably quiet. We loved the gorgeous traditional wooden shutters too, which give almost complete blackout at night. Code entry for both the building and your room is a great idea and everything was provided at check-in.
Even the smell when you first walk into the building is lovely – such a small thing, but noticeable!
There are two kitchens, always spotlessly clean and with everything we needed. A few guests seemed to think they could leave dirty crockery for somebody else to clean, which was frustrating, but obviously not the hotel’s fault.
There’s also a cute ground-floor garden, perfect for sitting somewhere shaded and quiet.
The rooftop lounge was probably our favourite feature. Lovely for sitting in the sun during the day, but equally nice at night – listening to the city, watching the planes taking off and even stargazing.
Fantastic value, comfortable, quiet, clean and full of character. Far better than we expected for the price. We would happily stay again.
