Overall it was a nice hotel, the bar staff were exceptional. However, there was one lady on reception with brunette hair around 5’2 and she was so difficult for no reason! Which mean my entire experience could have been better.

Clean rooms, courteous staff, and conveniently located a few hundred meters from the convention center. There was no parking available, and it was difficult to find a spot nearby.

I visit Essen annually and this is my 7th stay at the Atlantic as it is supposed to be the best hotel in Essen, well Essen needs to do better. Hotel décor is tired and need of a major uplift. The pillows were excruciating uncomfortable - like sleeping on two air filled rocks. The TV in room is a first generation flatscreen that is small and I am pretty sure the range of channels reduced from my last stay (for a business hotel, some English options please). Positives continue to be location next to the Grugapark which is great for morning run (when the gates are open and can enter for free) and near Rüttenscheid‎ which is where all best places to eat are. The breakfast buffet is very good. Staff still excellent, especially Thomas in the bar who was very friendly and attentive.

Don’t book this hotel!!

Massively disappointing service. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy in place before 3pm. However I had a two night booking but after check in I had an issue back home abroad and told the hotel staff I had to go because of an emergency. They said no one was there to help advise on the cancellation. In effect had I two separate bookings for the two nights I could have cancelled it automatically but because it was a two night booking, even though I gave more than 24 hours notice, they wouldn’t do anything. Really poor and unnecessarily greedy under the circumstances. Hotels.com even tried calling them to see would they help because of the extenuating circumstances and the notice given, but no. Shame on your hotel

Zimmer sauber, Personal nett, Parkplätze grosszügig auch für grosse Autos, leider wenige und keine garantierte Verfügbarkeit - dafür aber recht teuer mit 25€/Tag. RoomService Menu etwas dürftig. TV Fernbedienung die Batterien leer. Alles in allem ok, aber im Gesamtpaket doch etwas mehr erwartet für den Preis.

Das Hotel liegt direkt neben der Gruga Halle. Sehr gut erreichbar mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln. Ausserdem gibt es vor dem Hotel winen sehr grossen Parkplatz. Das Frühstück ist sehr umfangreich. Von lactosefreier Milch, über frisches geschnittenes Obst bis hin zum frisch zubereitetem Omelette einfach toll.
