“Such a friendly owner. Comfortable bed and top rated room with loads of interesting quirky things to look at. Breakfast was to order the night before at a time of your choice. Brought to your room and was of a good quality. Would stay there again. We were in the Birch room.”

“Lovely place right by the sea with super friendly staff. Parking also with your room and good food. Hotel is what you expect for the price but staff are wonderful. I don’t like electric showers as you can’t get heating right on them. But that’s normal for these older hotels. Would happily stay again.”

“Lovely old building, beautifully clean and comfortable. Steve and Fiona were very welcoming and kind. Also, they cooked a mean breakfast from a varied menu. It was delicious. The only downside was the lack of parking outside The Bakehouse. It proved to be very difficult but the upside was that approx 60 yards away was a Car Park for only £3.30 for 24 hours! Highly recommend The Bakehouse if you are planning a visit to East Devon.”

“I’ve stayed at the Mason’s Arms twice now, and both times it’s been exceptional. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable and warm, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is fantastic. I’ll go out of my way to stay here in future.”

“The room we had was clean and tidy with clean towels etc. We did fine some sweets and a tablet under the bed when I dropped my own tablet but otherwise, clean. One wall light appeared to not work but not a problem to us. The staff throughout were friendly and helpful. There is a well stocked bar with national brands as well as more local ones. Beer is a lovely place where you can relax and life slows down if you want it to.”

“A very disappointing stay. We booked a deluxe sea view (with large bay window) double or twin room via Expedia. On arrival at the hotel we did not get the room we booked and paid for. According to Expedia’s description and photographs the room we were given was a STANDARD double room for SINGLE occupancy. As the hotel was fully booked we had to tolerate this very small room with four steps up to the bathroom and really not enough room for two people. The room in no way bore any resemblance to...

“Very good place with dinner and breakfast available. We paid too much via Expedia”

“Great location for the celebration we were attending. Lovely host really friendly. A fab stay”

“A reminder that you don’t get a lot for your money these days. Twin room - cheap narrow beds, very noisy plumbing system in the room and from other rooms, noisy outside, tiny shower. Included breakfast not worth mentioning.”

“El lugar es precioso aunque me costó trabajo llegar. La gente que atiende parecía tener prisa todo el tiempo. Es un problema que no haya nadie ahí durante el día porque dejé el cargador de mi teléfono y nadie pudo abrirme para recuperarlo. ”

“Muy agradable, habitación preciosa, con una linda vista al mar. El personal muy amable. El hotel tiene un típico pub inglés. Muy pintoresco. 100% recomendable ”

“A very comfortable hotel in an ideal location. We opted for a sea view room. Great to have on site parking.”

“It was very well equipped and comfortable beds.”
