We had a wonderful couple of days here and would definitely go back again.
The ballroom Cafe was lovely with great food and atmosphere and the 5 course meal in the castle was amazing.
Excellent customer service, all the staff are with smiles, breakfast is delicious, view is gorgeous, able to see sunset in early morning from the window.
Awesome Castle & Gardens, breakfast is excellent, had dinner great atmosphere having in the castle. Staff are all fantastic, great gift shop & cafe based in the old ballroom- overall highly recommended 5 stars
This was the most amazing stay! Strongly recommend the dinner in castle as well. The food is delicious for both the dinner and the breakfast! Would travel to NZ again just to stay here.
Staff was wonderful and kind. Recommend the dinner experience as a great way to meet the other guests. Breakfast was delicious and inclded a buffet as well as hot made to order breakfast. Views from the room are spectacular
There was nothing about this property i did not like. Everything was excellent, the food, the staff, the grounds the views. It was the best place we stayed on our trip. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and the history about the place and New Zealand was excellent.
The unit was clean, in good condition, and the bed was comfortable. Instant coffee, teabags, sweeteners, and milk were available in the room along with an electric kettle. Breakfast was very good. Check in and out was simple and quick, staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
Superb experience all around- kindest and most helpful staff (Barbara at check-in was fantastic!), gorgeous room with breathtaking views, spectacular gardens, excellent tour with Carol at the castle, most delicious made-to-order and buffet breakfast! We loved it so much we didn’t want to leave!
Highly recommended to anyone seeking to spend time at a very special place in New Zealand!
This place is awesome to vist/stay. We were in the stable accommodation which does have a low roof on one side of the room but we knew this when booking. Nothing is too much for the staff, they are outstanding to deal with. Great breakfast provided in the mornings and you can book to have the evening meal in the castle-costs extra. The castle and grounds are just so wonderful. This is a place you really need to see.
Wonderful place to stay if visiting albatross sanctuary or just for the experience of staying at the castle. We stayed in a lodge with a sea view . Decor was in-keeping with the castle and beds were comfortable. We had a tour of the castle included in our nightly rate which was interesting and before check-in we ate in the cafe where the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming Highly recommend.
Our room in the Lodge had amazing views and a beautiful bathroom and great size. The staff were so lovely and helpful. We loved looking around the grounds well looked after beautiful views. The Castle was my highlight will definitely be back again.
Excellent in every way! Room spotless, cute and comfortable, every staff member we had dealings with was warm, friendly, helpful and professional. Food excellent, we booked the dinner experience and also the breakfast was extremely good. An awesome experience!
We were in an upstairs room and the view was stunning! The room was plush with a four poster bed that was very comfortable. The whole experience of staying in the grounds of the stately home was great - especially as free access comes with the room. Breakfast was good with a nice selection of cooked and continental.
We also had Dinner in the castle - the food was good and it was fun having a private dinner party with people we did not know. Need to book in advance direct with the hotel though!
It's a good opportunity to stay in a historic property. Gardens are beautiful, I would recommend booking the latest dinner options, it is more quiet and you will get an opportunity to do some star gazing.
Room was so extremely small, but decently comfortable. Shower rooms are tiny and not too comfortable.
Staff was overall ok, but some were really not helpful. Parking was difficult, as the parking lot was really tight.
Overall an interesting experience.
Really fun to stay at a castle! Ok, not actually in the castle but on the grounds. Staff were excellent and the supper in the castle dining room was lovely.
