For a hotel charging close to $1,000 per night and positioning itself as a luxury property, the service was shockingly disappointing. What we experienced was 3-star, bare-minimum service at 5-star prices. After a 14-hour journey from the United States involving two flights, we arrived around noon. I fully understood that early check-in could not be guaranteed. What was unacceptable was the complete lack of urgency, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality while we waited. At approximately 2:30 p.m., we were still being told that the room was being cleaned. Luxury hospitality is not simply handing a guest a room key at the official check-in time. It is recognizing an exhausted guest who has traveled internationally, communicating proactively, making an effort to prioritize the room, and finding ways to make that guest comfortable while they wait. None of that requires extraordinary effort. It requires good hotel management and basic hospitality. The College Green Hotel may have a beautiful building, an excellent location, and luxury pricing, but our experience was 3-star, bare-minimum service dressed up as a 5-star hotel. At this price point, that is simply not acceptable. I won’t be staying there again.
