Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Amenities
It's called the "Crown" for a reason, and it's because it's at the very top of the canyon, and a very steep and narrow road to and from Mcleod Ganj, or anything, really. Have a car, be prepared to hire cabs, or just stay at the hotel and enjoy the views. Which, to be fair, are very nice.
Out of 7 hotels in 7 cities in India in terms of service, the Luxe easily ranked last. The woman at the desk was proffesional, but the guy in an Addidas track suit handling our luggage did not approach Indian standards of hospitality. Both of my travel companions had issues with the cleanliness of their rooms, plus the food in the restaurant was oversalted.
After one night, myself and my two friends unanimously decided to find different accomodations within the town, which we did, then checked out of the Luxe.
However the folks at the ALLHC would not refund the cost of our rooms for the nights we would not be staying there. I get, that in the age of algorithm hopping, hotels have changed their refund policies. But it still feels like a slap when the facilities were so mediocre.
Not getting my money back pushed the rating down a bit, sure, but the location, service and amenities had already made this the bottom of my list of stays on this trip.
