A great stay. Helpful welcoming staff. Sauna and pool were great (but perhaps need a more obvious translation of rules of German saunas for nieve Englishmen). Excellent buffet breakfast. Hotel is brilliantly situated to explore old town. Even lower cost rooms have a nice aspect, I imagine Rhine river view rooms are stunning.

We arrived late. The greeting at the reception was very unfriendly. We asked for a recommendation for dinner. He would only recommend restaurants in the hotel and the one he ultimately strongly recommended was not even serving food. The air conditioning in the room didn’t work and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The buffet breakfast was mediocre. They did switch us to a better room the second night. The hotel is tired and needs updating. The location was good though.

Room was a very good size with nice balcony and city view, but the room itself very dated like it’s stuck in the 1980’s and the aircon was just like having an oscillating fan will no cold air at all and it was 38c in Cologne so we had to keep the curtains closed to stop the room becoming a sauna, rooms and corridors have a very musty smell too, breakfast was nice but full as only open half the room around the food buffet area and the pool was nice but again dated…part of the draw was how lovely the piano bar looked and its closed for the summer, staff where very helpful

We had a lovely big comfortable suite overlooking the cathedral. The hotel is in the centre and very convenient for shopping, dining, sightseeing etc. The reception ladies were friendly and helpful. The underground parking had many free spaces maybe because of its high cost of €32 per day. If you would like to avoid the traffic noise and tramps going past, must close the balcony doors, but it wasn’t an issue for us.

Pros: Nice hotel, great location, very well maintained and clean. The breakfast buffet was nice. Good food and variety. Convenient parking under the hotel. Cons: While it's advertised to have AC that can be controlled from each room, it's really more of an "air circulator" and does not blow cold air. The room was very warm even with it running. To be fair, there was a serious heatwave the weekend we were there but I don't think the AC would have been great even under normal circumstances. Thankfully, the staff gave us a fan to cool the room off a bit more and that made it tolerable. We felt the parking was rather pricey. Fine for people not staying in the hotel but it would be nice if they offered a better rate for hotel guests. Neither 'pro' nor 'con' but good to know before you book a room.... make sure you understand the bed sizes. We first reserved a "Queen" Comfort room but found out the bed in that room is only 140 x 200 CM. We upgraded to a "Comfort Double" with a King Size bed which was perfect. Just be aware before you book All told, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again (in cooler weather).
