This is a bed & breakfast in a well maintained historic building. Pros: It is in walking distance to the lake, very convenient location. The rooms are clean and freshly-made breakfast is very good. Staff are friendly, and online check-in is smooth. Cons: We stayed in Room 5, which has its separate bathroom across the hallway. The bathroom has no window curtain, and one of the lamps was not working properly. The bed seemed fragile, a tiny movement could make noises in the bed. If you want to experience the historic building with nice decor in a convenient location, I would recommend try other rooms in this property.

We stayed in room #1. It was a large room with a large bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room contained nice appointments. We had breakfast each morning which was ready at 9am,. Coffee and quick eat breakfast items were available before then. The inn is located near a very nice area of restaurants and shops. Outdoor activities were nearby as well, a very nice park, moderate hiking trail up a hillside overlooking lake Coeur d’Alene. And, close access to lake and lake amenities. All of the above were in a short walking distance of the inn. I would highly recommend and would stay there again.

We never saw any staff, only through texts, a very nice location and beautiful property​, and liked the kitchen with a lot of things. We didn't eat their cooked breakfast, but were happy to have bagels and cream cheese for the road.

The Blackwell is currently a hotel and event center. I was told the house was constructed in 1905 and for several years operated as a B&B, which is pretty close to what we experienced for our one night stay! Great breakfast and amenities! Our bedroom was small but very comfortable. I took lots of pictures because it was so beautifully restored!

Beautiful well maintained Victorian home very close to downtown CDA....only 5 minutes to great shopping and restaurants, plus beach, and trails. Although on a main street, we didn't hear any noise from traffic or construction. The rooms were huge and the bathrooms recently updated. Good water pressure. A few snacks are in the kitchen area if you get hungry or need to leave before the late 9am breakfast. It operates more a like a VRBO and the whole time we were there we never saw any staff. I had to call to get the door code, since I never got an email with the code. It's a bit odd, inconvenient and off-putting to have to do the 'hotel registration' over the internet and because of that I probably wouldn't stay here again. I guess I just don't understand why someone can't be there from 4-6 in the evening to great people. We did enjoy our room, the house and our stay though. The only other thing we didn't like was that the outdoor bistro lights were on all night, which would have been fine if the windows would have had black out curtains.

This hotel is an old mansion and luxury boutique hotel. It is well kept and would be a great venue for a wedding. As an older hotel, it has shared spaces like sitting areas, bathrooms, game rooms, etc. It has old heaters in many rooms and a claw foot bathtub in the upstairs bathroom. It is in a safe neighborhood and very convenient to downtown Couer d'Alene. We were on the 3rd floor and had to climb up some narrow staircases to our room. The floors were a bit creaky, as you would expect in a historic building. It was definitely an experience you won't get with the corporate hotels.The hosts were friendly and made breakfast. The Blackwell was a unique experience!

Yes- spotless room and accommodating staff. The breakfasts were lovely and sitting in front of the fireplaces added to the ambiance. We were a four night stay- we did notice the room (7) was chilly the last morning. Not sure if the vents were working.
