I’m giving this stay one star—only because I can’t give less. The whole point of staying at a hotel is to be able to get some rest, but in October—with temperatures around 60°F (15°C) in the early morning—they turned off the air conditioning, supposedly to switch to heating. I had to regulate the temperature myself by opening the floor-to-ceiling windows, which meant waking up throughout the night to open and close them. Because the windows are so large—spanning nearly from floor to ceiling—there was zero privacy, and mosquitoes, flies, and other unrecognizable insects kept getting in. On top of that, the church bells rang every half hour. When I asked the staff about it and mentioned that I felt misled—since their website claims they have air conditioning—they essentially, though politely, told me to deal with it. If you’re traveling with children, it’s impossible to sleep here, given those large, low-set windows. I’ve stayed at *Paradores* before, but this was a different story. I suppose it could have been worse—but not by much.
