The staff was overall courteous and helpful, though wasn't asked how my stay was. The gym was very good and clearly the person in charge knew their stuff. The breakfast buffet was great, but the nordic techno was not the most conducive to calm digestion. The location was absolutely perfect imo, near taikooli, great view of the river and bridge, lots of neat little shops nearby. The room and building wear clean and grand. The tv was oddly positioned vis-à-vis the bed and no airplay support. The shower drain needed to be cleaned and had an unpleasant urine smell. The spa service was sub par and better off trying cheaper alternatives nearby.

Stayed a few nights at the Shangri la in Chengdu. I’ve stayed there many times over the years for both business and travel. It feels like home. The staff are always wonderful and accommodating. Shout out to Morgan Li, one of the concierge staff, who was very helpful with suggestions for getting around Chengdu and good conversation. He was very concerned about me standing in the heat(very hot in CD on July) while waiting for the taxi he called for me on my final departure from the hotel. I will always stay at the Shangri la when travelling to CD.
