Shady… fired department was there - elevator bangs and you have to check your room before you decide to stay- if you don’t like it you have to find another hotel.

Our room was great overlooking the beautiful view of the river. If I have any complaints it would be the lighting in the room for reading is pretty bad. The insulation between floors really needs fixing. We heard every movement from above. The surrounding property though beautiful did need some maintenance. The outside part of windows clearly had not been cleaned in a long time. A real shame with such a beautiful view. The staff especially reception were exceptional. Having to walk to dinner, then another bldg for happy hour, and yet another for breakfast created a camp like atmosphere in the woods. Quite charming. The walk to the plantation gardens was a real treat. We would definitely stay there again. The peaceful ambience was wonderful. Oh did I mention all the horses?

My stay here was not as I had hoped. While the location and views were on par, housekeeping and staff were not. One of the beds in my room had a large stain on the sheets, which we had gone to management and asked to be changed, only to find out that the room was serviced and the same bedding remained. Again, we asked for it to be changed; housekeeping had left for the day, so we had to change the sheets ourselves. One of the pleasures of staying in a hotel with housekeeping is to have bedding changed and the room cleaned. One of the days our room wasn't even serviced at all. We were told we would be reimbursed for parking to compensate for the disappointment; however, we paid for parking in cash. We were told we couldn't get the cash back. We were met immediately with an attitude by the manager; she was just not at all pleasant to talk to or to find a resolution with. A 45-minute conversation took place until I decided to leave so as not to ruin our last day in SC. In the end, we were reimbursed, but I shouldn't have to argue with staff and be met with poor attitudes for their mistakes. I do not think I would return.
