The parking situation is a bit of a pain, as there is none on site. Room was clean. We were told when we arrived that the swimming pool etc was extra, which is something we had never experienced in a hotel. However, the staff allowed us a complementary pass. The leisure facilities were not clean and need updating.

Really, really disappointing that hotel guests have to pay, in addition to the room fee, to use the hotel swimming pool (5 British pounds/ person)!! During the weekend there was a good children’s area set up near the lobby with movies, Lego and games.

Edward stood out as an exceptionally helpful member of staff. So informative, friendly and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. He went above and beyond and we were very grateful as it was our first visit to Cardiff. We had a deluxe room which was very comfortable, executive lounge was an added bonus. Breakfast was amazing, plenty of of choice.

Reception staff were lovely and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was gorgeous. However the spa area was dreadful, gym was small changing rooms were awful, run down and grubby. No private changing facilities. Tiles were mouldy the toilets smelt very bad. In the pool area the whole area was grubby bits of tiles missing and covered with masking tape. The tiles around the hot tub were mouldy, window sills were rotting and flaking away. Not what I expected from a luxury chain like the Hilton. Very disappointing. I would return to the hotel but would avoid the spa and pool area.

The hotel location is perfect for exploring Cardiff on foot. There is access to two car parks within easy walking distance. The rooms were clean with friendly staff and also offered great spa facilities. The breakfast buffet was superb with a large range of hot and cold food.

When we arrived we were surprised at how loud and rowdy the crowd in the bar were and then later this was replaced by a large number of loud and drunk teenagers later on attending their prom! The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was perfect and the staff were more than helpful, but the noise and the building works going on outside made the stay slightly less enjoyable than it would have been otherwise.

The room and bedding was fine - clean. The rest of the hotel needs a really deep clean. I booked for the pool and jacuzzi and took one look and thought- no way am I going in there! The lifts need a deep clean between the doors and windows need attention. A good steam clean ever would do no harm. No bar open on Sunday evening. Nothing in the mini bar. Not even a bottle of water! On a positive note, it was quite enough to get some rest. For £200, I excepted better.

Excellent Hotel, well-located next to Cardiff Castle, parks, shopping areas, etc. Clean and well cared for. Reception staff went out of their way to be helpful (we had a complex booking because we were working around a concert bundle stay, with a booking before, and a booking after the concert date) and to make sure we had continuity in the room we stayed in and simplified things as much as possible to make it relatively seemless. Excellent restaurant and lounge. Paid breakfast is worth it for convenient schedule, and hot and cold selections. Only note is that the hotel hosts graduations celebrations during the end of June and the event room does not have a ceiling, meaning that the sound carries through the open foyer up to the upper levels, but events end relatively early. Bring earplugs if you are a light/early sleeper, just in case.
