I loved the location and staff. The rooms were small but well stocked and comfortable. The second room we rented only had a sink -the toilet and shower facilities were in the hallway but it didn’t seem to be much of an issue unless you awake several times a night.
A hidden surprise that we found out about by mistake…there is a walking path just outside the hotel entrance “behind the restaurant” (take a left) that leads to a beautiful trail and meanders to the road near the bay.
Get yourself out here it’s beautiful and the Glendale and it’s staff & owner are absolutely wonderful people so thank you all .

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Clean room with very comfortable bed but tired room decor and furniture, and essentials like loo brush, soap or bins in bathroom missing. But, very lovely restaurant below with great atmosphere and amazing authentic pizzas and pastas
Have stayed here a few times and find it very comfortable, both the singles and doubles. Really lovely staff and great location.

The room was spotless with new fixtures and fittings. Staff were friendly and accomodating. There is a bar and a breakfast room. The room was quiet and the double bed was roomy.
We were on the 2nd floor so a little tricky getting up with suitcases etc.
I would usually rent a whole property but this was last minute decision and I am so glad I came here .
It’s a beautiful and quaint old world style place and the staff ,, every single one of them have been so helpful and attentive I can’t praise them enough. They all work hard yet will stop and help you with anything a nd that is not always so at some places.
No it’s a great place and the Italian owner ( Tony)) is a great guy . Really easy going but always respectful and courteous,,, I would easily count him as a friend in a different situation because he is a busy guy but totally loyal to his customers.
I would like to that every single staff member who I mostly know by name . They have a wonderful establishment and in a wonderful part of wales and long may it be so.
I will definitely return.
Thank you to everyone at the Glendale , I can’t thank you all enough but i haven’t used names as there is a lot of staff but they know who they are .You are wonderful people in a wonderful and beautiful hotel and area
Thanks
What a lovely little hotel. We arrived quite late on a Saturday and we're welcomed by the friendly owner. Our room was clean and comfortable with a cute, old fashioned door key. We had a drink in the bar but didn't eat in the restaurant, although it did look lovely.
I stay at the Glendale regularly to visit my daughter and granddaughter who live nearby. It is a lovely hotel above an Italian restaurant with very convenient access to Penarth train station with regular trains into nearby Cardiff.
It has both single and double size rooms and I usually choose a single. The rooms are well appointed with rather basic shower facilities, tea & coffee etc. a very nice full cooked English breakfast is available (extra) and of course there is the very convenient excellent restaurant downstairs. The owner/manager is very friendly and chatty.
I can only give 5 stars for the Glendale,,, it’s very quaint and a very unique hotel and so interesting with its design and decorative features and architecture, it really is a beautiful place to stay and in a beautiful location .
The staff every single one of them are just amazing,, so helpful and caring people who work very hard at the Glendale but will always give you their time and help.
I found it to be a very beautiful place to stay all round so yes i definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Cardiff and Penarth with its lovely beaches and i could just go on and on but go and see for yourselves because i can be choosy but i had a feeling about the Glendale when I first spotted the advert as it just isn’t some bland & boring place and Tony ( the owner) he works so hard yet is so welcoming and i could easily imagine him as a friend i would trust because i know people and i can spot a fake in a nano second but Tony I knew from the moment i fiirst met him ,, at midnight because it’s almost 5 hrs and combined with the motorway shutting down due to an accident i arrived alone at midnight and it was so quiet and i banged on the door thinking “ im not going to get in “ when suddenly Tony just appeared behind me in his Italian accent welcomed me and said “ your safe now so come and get in we were worried you hadn’t arrived “ and I knew then n there what a decent man he was because I spot a fake,, i think he lives nearby and maybe heard me, great man
The bed was really comfy. The room, including the carpet, was very clean. The decor is a bit tired in places (faded curtains and tatty bathroom). The TV is tiny. There was no floor towel in the bathroom so ask for one when you check in.
Lovely room, great location - short walk to the seafront. Easy to park just for an overnight stay. The only issue was the water pipes making a lot of noise for a short while while i was trying to get to sleep.
Really lovely room, beautifully and tastefully furnished. Much larger than anticipated.
Great location.
Highly recommended.

This is an old hotel so not able to have modern tech included (i.e air conditioning) However, if you like old style property and decor + the noise of a fan in your room, then this hotel is for you.
It certainly worked for my needs for a 1 night stay.
only thing to consider is some clear signage for the travel arriving late at night as you had to go through a restaurant to get to the check-in desk - that wasn't clear
The Hotel was not Very Good it was Very Bad some one left a terrible mark on the mattress and it Didn’t look very nice so I came Back Home the next morning and the food was to much money for what it was not worth anything
Above an Italian restaurant this older establishment has been converted into hotel rooms. A small room which included a double bed, a toilet, shower and hand basin. The wardrobe was an alcove. Adequate despite being on the top floor and no lift.
