The areas for improvement are for the plunge pools, ours had a bunch of the stuff falling from the trees that it would hurt the bottom of our feet. We had a great family vacation here. Loved the pools and the beach. We had a plunge pool which was well maintained. I would suggest doing the preferred status. We got some of the perks due to our Expedia status and we enjoyed it. Only complaint about the room is for 2 adults and 2 kids there was no dresser therefore very limited space to put clothes. Also neighbors were loud and easy to hear. Our last night they were outside at their pool partying until like 2 in the morning.

Everyone was really nice and the staff learned your name the day. They were always welcoming and called you by your name. The rooms were really clean and the housekeeping service was always on top of it. My steamer didn’t work and within 15 mins they brought me an iron.

Beware!! This was our 3rd time back to Dreams. Only to be told a lot of rules have changed. The biggest part that had us discouraged was we can no longer use the infinity pool that overseas the ocean. We used to be allowed to take our kids with us. We loved having the pool bar in the pool. Unfortunately we will no longer go back again. We did notice some of the staff didn’t seem happy. It just didn’t feel the same.

Stayed here as a family of four and had a great experience overall. The resort is a good size — not overwhelming, not too small — with everything you need on site. Excellent value for the price and level of service. Atmosphere: Relaxed and family-friendly rather than party-oriented. Things quiet down early in the evening. No smoking permitted on the property. Location: 25–30 minutes from the airport. Dining: Food quality was consistently good. Portofino (Italian) was the standout. The Mexican and Asian restaurants were solid, and Seaside Grill and Oceania offered decent food with great ocean views. Pool and grounds: Kept clean, with attentive staff on hand throughout the day. Entertainment: A real highlight — the team was engaging, fluent in both English and Spanish, and kept guests of all ages entertained. Rooms: AC worked reliably throughout the stay. Overall, no real complaints. Would happily return and recommend to other families.

Alara

Air condition went out 2 days while staying. The entire resort was without air. It was miserable. Hotel wasn’t very accommodating. It was okay. Nice for the kids. Smaller resort. Very salesy in the beginning. Asked to visit a new resort after we had a full morning of travel. No early check in. Sat in a hot lobby for 4 hours. While multiple sales were pitched to us. Very annoying. So if you plan on visiting book your flight right at the 3pm check in.
