I booked this as a mother looking for an affordable, easy family weekend. The kitchenette, BBQ, pool and hot tub were major reasons for choosing it, so we could cook, swim and relax without constantly spending money elsewhere.
Unfortunately, the pool was unheated and extremely cold, and the hot tub was visibly dirty with a grimy ring even after we were told it had been cleaned.
I had purchased groceries specifically to cook for my family, but the BBQ had so much accumulated grease it caused a significant flare-up. The oven was also dirty and produced substantial smoke, with poor ventilation. A greasy silicone sheet was on top of a severely greasy oven bottom to cover up the filth. I could barely pry it off to clean it. The oven light didn’t work and the stove markings had worn away, making the cooking facilities very difficult to use.
The bathroom was extremely cramped that water flooded onto the floor, and shelf broken. There were numerous wasps around the roof/awning, and the paper-thin walls meant we were repeatedly woken by loud neighbouring units. Also be aware that Bayfield is not realistically walkable if you plan to have a drink. Taxi is approximately $45 each way. My biggest concern, however, was the response when we raised these issues. Although the owners responded quickly, I was told, “Just don’t leave me a bad review.” I wasn’t looking to write one. I wanted the facilities we had paid for to be clean and usable. Clearly the upkeep was not done.
