I really wish it had been a better experience. The photos shown are nothing like what we found, and this should be stated on the website, since there are two very different buildings. We had to walk up four flights of stairs because there’s no elevator. The room I booked looked like it hadn’t been maintained in decades. My husband tried adjusting the temperature and the control came off the wall and the humidity smell was strong.
We went to reception to request an upgrade because the room was not what we expected. Thankfully, the receptionist helped us move to another building/room, much better than the first one. He even said this “always happens,” and many guests switch buildings for the same reason — meaning it’s a frequent issue. So be careful when booking.
As for service: I know English isn’t the main language in the area, but hotel staff should at least know basic English. We speak Spanish and English, and it would’ve helped a lot. The housekeeper assigned to our room was rude. I asked if we could enter since she had just finished cleaning and the floor was still wet. She said “no English” and started speaking French. I politely asked if she spoke English or Spanish, and she shrugged in a dismissive way, ignoring me. The only kind person was the lady in charge of breakfast. Breakfast was very good, and that’s why I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2. They need to improve their service and clearly explain the difference between the hotel and the annex.
