Thornhedge & Stratford are 2 beautiful properties with friendly and helpful staff who will make your stay in Bar Harbor memorable! Coffee, Tea, Distilled Water and fresh baked treats are available all day, and wine and cheese is served at tea time. Breakfast is absolutely amazing! There is a different entree each morning served with fruit, fresh baked goods, juice, coffee and the host will help you wrap some up to take on your adventures later in the day! Looking forward to staying again!

The host and owner, Andy, and staff were outstanding. Lifelong residents and knew just about everything resulting in excellent recommendations. The Inn has been in the family for generations and 2 blocks to downtown. We rarely needed our car. Highly recommend!

We just got back from Thornhedge Inn and honestly, it might be the best place we’ve ever stayed. Jeff, the innkeeper, made the whole trip. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area — gave us a leftover Acadia National Park pass, pointed us to the best bars and restaurants in town, and even set us up with a killer food recommendation for our next stop in Portland, Maine (we just got back and it was some of the best food we’ve ever had — that’s how good his instincts are). The inn itself is a perfect blend of old and new: vintage and quaint in the best way, unlike anywhere else we’ve stayed, but with the comfort and amenities of a modern luxury hotel. Breakfast alone is worth the stay. One morning we had a beautifully made omelette, the next a crème brulee French toast — the kind of spread you’d pay $40+ a person for at a posh brunch spot, except it was served in the most gorgeous dining room, sitting alongside other travelers swapping stories about their trips. The location is ideal too — about 3 blocks from the main drag and 7 minutes from Acadia, but just far enough removed that you can sit on the porch with a cup of coffee in the morning without the mad dash of Main Street passing by. 10/10 can’t recommend enough, we will be back!

Very nice, the other guests made it special!

We really enjoyed sitting across the breakfast table with other guests and talking about what they had done and enjoyed the most. It helped us get the most out of our visits to the park, our sunset cruise and our restaurant selections.
