The place is absolutely amazing, it is truly like staying in a tree house.. the staff is super friendly, you have kayaks available and the excursions on the lagoon and great. If you can, do get the rooms with the lagoon view, the sunrise from between the foliage gets reflected on the water and it’s truly magical, i’m definitely coming back

Great accommodation with private lagoon access. Small restaurant onsite for breakfast (maybe just burgers and salads for day menu). Hotel restaurant 30 seconds away sells beers and has larger menu. Or 20ish minute walk to town. Would go back, so nice to be right on the lagoon

The room was cozy and clean with a fantastic view of the forest and lagoon. All the staff was very friendly and helpful as well. We enjoyed the breakfast hand delievered every morning and were very pleased with how tidy our room was after staff came in to clean. Overall it was a fantastic place and we would definitely stay here again!

What a unique experience !! When I arrived to Boa Boa Bacalar I didn’t know what to expect, and wow was I surprised! I booked the “jaguar”room (which is like a tree house bungalow) The staff walk you from the check in desk to your bungalow, showing you the amenities along the way. The restaurant, Funk.. the pool.. the kayaks.. swimming area, and on to the bungalow. I will say, getting to some of the more remote bungalows is not for everyone.. it’s a mini hike. I loved it . The “jaguar” was awesome. The terrace has you surrounded by jungle, with a perfect view of Bacalar Lagoon, and the sunrise. Even the shower is all windows! They bring you a breakfast basket each morning, which is so nice. There is a coffee maker and mini fridge in the bungalow as well. They off sail boat tours on the lagoon at various times of the day (additional charge) and I HIGHLY recommend doing it. You get to see and experience parts of the lagoon not accessible from shore, which is a must. All of the staff is super nice, and very helpful, if you need a taxi to go into town, just ask them. If you need recommendations for things to do or see, ask them. I was told to go to the parque ecológico, and it was so worth it. You cannot use traditional sunscreens if swimming or going into the lagoon. I suggest buying eco friendly sunscreens, if you go. Such a great and fun experience at Boa Boa Bacalar. I definitely will be going back!

Fantastic design, cool amenities (kayak), amazing location (in front of the lake), healthy breakfast. Only complain would be that depending on the room, given the wood, it can be noisy if you have neighbors.

My girlfriend and I had an excellent stay here. The rooms were very comfortable, and next to the lagoon. Views from the room and the property are amazing. The lagoon is a treasure, and didn't disappoint. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was amazing, and that we had everything we needed.

Paradise on the lake

Excellent in every way! If you're looking for a spot away from town this is it! You will need a car or bike to get into town or can get food delivered. The breakfast is amazing and filling and can get you through most of the day !

Loved it!

The room was perfectly located with a great view of the lagoon. It had a balcony where I enjoyed breakfast and coffee or a glass of wine at sunset. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were super friendly, caring and flexible to requests. The docks next to the lagoon are magical places too.

Right at the lagoon and with a beautiful view. The staff was great! so kind and helpful even before my arrival. We loved the cabin and the cute breakfast basket. If wanting to go to the city center you (or the staff) can just call or text a taxi, it’s a 10 min drive.

Pros: Attentive, friendly staff. Partial lagoon view from Tapir Room, storing our luggage and letting us use the oceanfront after check-out, the dock was awesome, walkable location from el Centro, simple yet satisfying breakfast. Fan and A/C options. The property is gorgeous. Cons: room is a bit weathered, smelled musty/moldy, corner near A/C looked moldy, window swollen so couldn’t open much, lack of attention in housecleaning and maintenance (ashtray overflowing from prior guest, freezer compartment overgrown with ice and cutting into fridge space, some furniture in need of repair). Perhaps other rooms were better maintained due to their full lagoon view and higher cost. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the mold smell/look was concerning.

Boa Boa was our favourite stay this vacation. All of the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The property is beautiful and all of the rooms were wonderful. We had the best sleep in the king sized beds! Having access to the water and some free kayaks really added such a bonus to our trip. I highly suggest getting up early to watch the sunrise and do a little paddle. There was lots of street parking for our car and the neighbourhood was very quiet. We look forward to our next day at Boa Boa and can’t wait to see what these amazing folks do next with their artistic talents.
