Great hotel, only a short 10 minute walk from the Amsterdam central station. The rooms are a bit small but well appointed and comfortable. For my last visit I was travelling with 2 others. It was rare to find a room with 3 separate beds. Our room also had a canal view which was nice. I would recommend the Singel hotel when visiting Amsterdam and would stay here again.

This is a straightforward hotel which is a good value. Had a double with a canal view. Good room. Great view. Helpful staff. Great location. Note on a previous review. The review said the elevator was small and the reviewer was concerned about large bags. The elevator had a capacity of 9 persons and 800 kg unless you have a giant steamer trunk there will be no problem.

6/10 Okay

The pro's of Hotel Singel are the staff, the breakfast is good, close to the Central rail station but on a "mostly" quiet canal, and it is clean....and it has Netflix! Con's would be the size of our room 41. It is very compact and while it did suffice only one person could move unimpeded about the room. The bathroom has a shower that flows onto the tile floor and drain. If you use the washbasin and someone has taken a shower previously the floor will be wet where one stands. This isn't unusual for old hotels which have been modernized in Europe. The weather was warm and being on the top of the hotel the room was pretty warm. The room was equipped with a fan "if" you could find space to set it up so it could be directed onto the beds. We opened the window to cool it off which led to another issue. If you're a light sleeper the hotel faces a canal that all the canal cruise boats use to return to the docking area. There is a of them. Like every 30 minutes. They have to maneuver thru a narrow locks passage so they use noisy bow thrusters to align themselves. The tourists have also been drinking the whole cruise route and it's very evident as they pass by. A warm Saturday night and everyone in Amsterdam seems be out. This usually shouldn't be an issue if the true Amsterdam weather was present which is cloudy, moist and cool and the windows are closed.

Exceeded expectations in charm, cleanliness and gezelligheid. Excellent location a bit noisy as you are on a canal in the centrum but it didn’t bother us as we are from a big city. We had gorgeous canal view from our bed! Pay close attention to room sizes and facilities and you won’t be disappointed. It’s all listed here or on trip advisor. All staff was lovely and helpful a particular shout out to Genato (spelling?) who was so sweet and kind. We will be staying here again.
